Chapter 12 Otome Game Protagonist
"Why!? This is totally not how the story goes!"
As soon as she returned to her cramped room, Sarah Belts threw off her heavy dress and shouted.
The dress had been sent by the First Prince.
There was also a dress sent by the Second Prince, but she didn't really like it, so it was just gathering dust in her closet.
Seriously, even though it was a luxurious dress, it felt like it had no value at all.
Sure, every time she wore the first dress, she felt pumped.
But now, she absolutely hated the heavy and stuffy dress.

She was scheming to be pampered by all the capture characters and more.
Following the story of the otome game, she efficiently captured the First Prince, the Second Prince, and the Captain of the Knights.
The 3 were now completely smitten with Sarah.
However, despite Sarah thinking her plan was perfect, there were some characters who, for some reason, weren't following the story.
"I can't capture the Third Prince at all! It's that villainess's fault. What is going on...?"
On the bed, Sarah grimaced and ground her teeth, her cute face all twisted up.
For some reason, she just couldn't seem to get the third prince, Werner, who had that little brother vibe from a otome game, to fall for her.
If things went according to the story, Prince Werner would be fed up with his fiancée, Rhiannon, and would soon come to Sarah for advice.
And then, Rhiannon, the jealous villainess, would start harassing Sarah in every possible way.
By overcoming that harassment together, Werner and Sarah would gradually fall for each other──.
'Or so it should have been.'
However, for some reason, Prince Werner and Rhiannon weren't actually engaged.
Rumor had it that Rhiannon had messed up big time and got dumped.
Plus, it seemed like Werner was plotting to get re-engaged to Rhiannon.
It was a totally different development from the otome game.
To top it off, the fact that Rhiannon wasn't acting like a villainess at all was one of the biggest reasons Sarah was so frustrated.
"Ugh, it's all Rhiannon's fault! Why's she gotta be a little nicer all of a sudden..."
Frustrated, Sarah bit her nails.
At this rate, there wouldn't be any romantic events with Werner.
If that happened, Sarah's reverse harem plan would be incomplete.
Not liking that one bit, Sarah was scheming to turn Rhiannon back into a villainess.
A villainess was essential in a otome game.
Honestly, Sarah hated Rhiannon.

Anyway, to turn Rhiannon back into a villainess, Sarah immediately started taking action.
First, she tried to get Rhiannon, whom she happened to run into at a clothing store, to buy a ton of clothes and accessories.
Rhiannon was supposed to be dumped by Werner for her spending habits, just like in the otome game story.
But that plan totally flopped.
No matter how much Sarah buttered her up, Rhiannon never spent a dime.
Next, Sarah tried to lure Rhiannon to a tea party to embarrass her.
But on the day of the tea party, a series of strange events unfolded, and Sarah's schemes fell apart one after another.
Specifically,
1. She noticed the hem of her dress was frayed on the day of the party and had to do a quick fix, which made her late and caused her to miss the chance to embarrass Rhiannon.
2. Even though she begged the prince to invite the noble lady who was supposed to be Rhiannon's entourage, Rhiannon ended up getting close to a mysterious black-haired lady instead.
3. Despite flaunting the first and second princes around, Rhiannon didn't seem jealous at all.
... and so on.
However, the tea party wasn't all bad for Sarah; there was an unexpected bonus.
An event occurred that would never happen in the world of an otome game.
Remembering this, Sarah couldn't help but blush.
"Somehow, Sir Kaine talked to me~. Was there ever an event like this in an otome game?"
She tilted her head, but soon enough, she didn't care about that anymore.
Kaine Ricciardi, Rhiannon's butler, had an exotic look, with his black hair loosely tied back, making him a handsome guy.
Despite being a side character with no role as a capture target, he was a popular character in the world Sarah came from.
Of course, Sarah was no exception.
In the otome game, she could hardly have a conversation with Kaine, Rhiannon's butler.
But during the tea party, while the first and second princes were having a loud fight, Kaine somehow beckoned Sarah from the shade of a tree.
He seemed to have noticed the frayed hem of her dress and called out to her.
Kaine secretly took Sarah to a place where no one could see them, and as he pulled out some sewing tools from his chest, he said, "I can only do basic first aid, but..." and started fixing the frayed edges.
While Kaine knelt at Sarah's feet, quickly sewing, Sarah gazed at him dreamily.
Sarah was kicking her feet on the bed.
"Ah, Sir Kaine was so cool! The length of his eyelashes when he looked down was just unreal! I really have a weakness for dark-skinned characters~. He's so handsome, I wonder why he wasn't a target to pursue..."
After Kaine finished fixing the fray, Sarah mustered up the courage to say, "Let's talk a little more." Kaine smiled dreamily and nodded.
From there, it was like a dream.
Although Kaine didn't say much, he was a great listener.
His nods and questions were clever, and before she knew it, Sarah was chatting away more than usual.
"I was asked about my favorite shops and places I go when I'm bored, but that must mean he's planning to come see me casually, right? He could just say he wants to see me, but Kaine is such a shy guy~!"
However, the fun didn't last long.
Soon, the first and second princes showed up, making a fuss about "Why are you talking to another guy?" and "Who is that guy?"
Kaine looked disappointed──at least that's how it seemed to Sarah──as he left.
"Ugh, those 2 princes were so annoying. It was fun at first, but lately, their love has been heavy and bothersome. They're older but so whiny. Well, no matter what, I'm definitely going to pursue Kaine and add him to my harem! I just want everyone to fight over me!"
With that, Sarah stood up and put on a cute smile, at least on the surface.
"For that, I need to act like a proper villainess~."
Sarah began writing a letter addressed to the third prince, Werner.
The content was, "I know an important secret about Rhiannon".
