Volume 1 Chapter 4 Battle with the Ogre
"Are they serious about being banishment...? Ugh..."
I'm riding on the back of Chippy the Earth Dragon, wandering through the forest outside the country.
"My dead old man and my mom must be angry in heaven..."
The Vetarinari family only has me, the oldest son, and my younger sister.
Our parents passed away a few years ago.
After graduating from magic school, my sister moved out and is living alone.
Since she left, she hasn't shown her face at home even once, so I guess she must hate me.
She always said things like, 'I don't like you at all, brother.'
"In times like this, being alone with nowhere to turn is really lonely..."
"Graaah! Graaah!"
Chippy raises a protesting voice.
"Ah, sorry. I forgot you were here. Alright, let's keep doing our best together."
"Graaah!"

"Should I look for a job in another country? But... is there really a place that would conveniently hire a beast veterinarian?"

A giant demon with a body more than twice that of a human.
There are 10 of them, and they are trying to attack the woman.

One of the ogres tries to hit the woman with a club.
"Stop!"
I kick the Earth Dragon's back and deliver a flying kick to the Ogre.
"Huh?" "Raa...?"
The ogre was kicked by me and was sent flying at an incredible speed.
"What grudge do you have against this person?"
"R-Rraaaaarr!"
Ogres are a type of magic beast, and their free will has been taken away by the Demon Lord.
Control techniques can make them obey me... but it takes time.
"It can't be helped, don't take it personally"
The ogres are rushing towards me.
I directed my right hand at them, activating my power as a beast veterinarian.
"[Paralyze]"
The magic circle unfolds.
As the electric current runs through, 9 ogres simultaneously stiffen their bodies.
"[Sleep]"
The magic circle unfolds, releasing white smoke.
The immobilized ogres inhale the smoke and collapse...!
into unconsciousness.
"Phew... are you okay?"
I walk over to the woman who has collapsed.
She looks to be around her mid-teens.
She wears light armor over a maid-like apron.
Upon closer inspection, she has cat ears growing from her head.
"I've heard ogres are B-rank. To take down ten of them in an instant... are you a famous adventurer?"
"Uh, I'm just a beast veterinarian..."
"A beast veterinarian? You're a doctor, aren't you? But why are you so strong?"
"Really? I think it's pretty normal."
Since I sometimes treat magical beasts, I've been training my body for a long time.
Paralyze and sleep are techniques adapted from things used in surgery.
"Amazing... as expected, you are as impressive as the rumors say!"
