Volume 1 Chapter 27 Implementing Defense Measures Around the Village
A few days after I drove back the elf army.
I was visiting the village that was attacked recently with my sister Cino.
"It's Sir Zeke! Sir Zeke has come to help us!"
As soon as we entered the village, smiling beastmen rushed towards us.
"Hello, Sir Zeke! Please take some of our vegetables! You must come in for tea!"
We were surrounded by a huge number of villagers.
"As expected of my brother, you're very popular. I'm so proud as your sister!"
While being jostled around, I examined the villagers at the village head's house.
"I'm sorry for making you come all the way here. To have the chief court physician visit..."
"Don't worry about that. The doctor is here so everyone can stay healthy."
The village head suddenly knelt down and started to cry.
"Oh! You sacrifice yourself and show kindness to the weak villagers. What a wonderful person you are!"
"T-that's too much..."
After examining the villagers, I found no lasting effects from the attack.
The Hand of God has amazing healing power, but I worried it might be too strong for their bodies.
I'm glad it was just my worry.
"Are you getting along well with the wyverns?"
"Yes! They are all calm and gentle."
I have been sending the wyverns on regular patrols for defense.
"As expected of my brother. Taming the wild wyverns is truly amazing!"
Cino hugged my arm tightly and said with a smile.
I felt her surprisingly soft chest against me, and it made my heart race a little.
"Also, village head, can I make some changes to the wall?"
"Yes, please go ahead!"
I started drawing shapes on the village head's wall with chalk.
"Lady Cino, what is Sir Zeke doing?"
"My brother is writing a magic spell."
"A magic spell?"
"It's like a magic circle. Even without magic power, this can activate magic."
"C-Can Sir Zeke really make something so amazing? Even though he's a doctor!?"
"My brother is a special person. He's skilled not just in medicine but also in magic. It's incredible!"
"Yeah, yeah," the two of them said, impressed.
I-I'm embarrassed...
After a little while.
"Alright, it's done. Village head, please place your hand here and try speaking."
The village head touches the completed magic circle.
'A-are you able to hear my voice?'
I send my thoughts without speaking.
The village head looks around in surprise.
"I-I can hear Sir Zeke's voice in my head! W-What is happening?"
"This is called [Telepathy]. It's magic that sends thoughts to someone far away."
"W-What!? Such advanced magic...! I-I can use it too, even though I'm just an ordinary person without magic! Amazing!"
If you set up the magic circle, anyone can easily send messages.
"Contact me again if any fools attack like before."
"By the way, my brother also set up a defense barrier and an emergency teleportation spell before entering the village. Please use those too."
The village head trembles with gratitude, grabs my hand, and bows deeply.
"Thank you for doing all this for us! You are our beastman guardian deity!"
"W-Well, I'm not really a guardian deity or anything that grand."
The village head, with a face full of tears, keeps bowing again and again.
"Well, I should be going soon."
"No! Please stay a little longer!"
"I have to visit other villages too."
"W-What!? You're going to set up defenses in villages all over the country!?"
"Of course."
The village head shed more tears and thanked me many times.
As I left the village, all the beastmen gave me a grand send-off.
"Cino, I'm sorry for dragging you into this."
I'm getting help to fine-tune the technique.
"I don't mind at all. I'm happy to see my brother getting recognized while we can go sightseeing together."
Cino smiles and hugs me from behind.
"I feel lucky to have such a serious and wonderful brother who works so hard for our country. I love him!♡"
