Volume 1 Chapter 7 Seeker Training Course

"She was a beautiful person. I think her name was Yoko Orikasa-san..."

When I reached the second floor by climbing the stairs, I was running down a long hallway that led to the classroom, thinking about the pretty receptionist, Orikasa-san, I talked to earlier.

"Still, she was not an ordinary person..."

As the receptionist of the guild, especially the Seeker training guild, she gave off a strong air of elegance...

"No, I was probably just nervous because she was so beautiful. But it's surprising that such a pretty person is working as a receptionist in a training guild... I thought the people at the training guild would be more like part-timers or amateurs, not someone like her..."

Yes, there is something like an 'Adventurer Guild' in another world, similar to the Seeker Guild here, but looking at how polished Orikasa-san was, the difference from the receptionist in the other world's Adventurer Guild was huge.

"Wow, the Seeker Guild is amazing... They are so thorough compared to the guild over there."

As I thought about this, I arrived at the classroom.

"From here, it's... my first step as a Seeker!"

 I boldly opened the door.

* * *

"Now, we will start the Seeker training course."

With the words of the male staff member in charge, the Seeker training course smoothly began.

The first half of the lecture was about the dungeon that appeared 20 years ago, the awakening of new abilities in the human body, and the story of Japan becoming an energy superpower, all of which are topics you can find on the Internet.

The second half of the course started with a talk about what happens when you become a Seeker, something you can only hear in this training course.

"First, Seekers have special abilities called high physical abilities and skills compared to regular people. So, if someone who becomes a Seeker stops exploring dungeons and works in regular society, they are mostly allowed to use their abilities, but if they use that power to break the law, the punishment will be much stricter than for regular people."

 I see.

 Well, that makes sense.

Seekers' powers are much stronger than regular people's.

 Of course.

"Even if it's a crime that doesn't hurt people, like stealing or cheating, these will still lead to prison time and the punishments are harsher compared to regular people. By the way, there is no such thing as probation, okay? Also, of course, crimes like r*pe and murder usually lead to the death penalty."

 The crowd gets noisy.

Some people agree with "that's true," while others are upset and say "that's not fair!"

Wow, isn't it crazy that people get upset about this?

Now, I should try to stay away from the people who are upset.

"Well, this shows that Seekers' powers can be a danger outside of dungeons. If you all become Seekers, be careful using your powers outside of dungeons."

After finishing this talk, the teacher started to smile.

"Now, let's talk about the 'merit' you can get when you finally become a level 2 Seeker (smirk)."

Most students smiled when they heard the teacher's words.

 Of course, I did too.

After all, if you become a Seeker, getting rich overnight is not a dream.

"Even so, this lecturer is really good at leading the conversation," I thought, listening carefully so as not to miss anything the lecturer was saying.

* * *

"When you become a Seeker, you are first issued a registration certificate. This is proof that you have reached level 2 and are recognized as a Seeker. This is the first 'F-class Seeker' registration certificate you receive."

 Clatter...

The instructor put out what appeared to be registration cards for each rank on the desk.

"This is the F-class badge. The material is 'iron.' You must always have this badge when you enter a dungeon. If you don't have it, you can't enter the dungeon."

 Wow, that's expensive?

 !

I really need to make sure I don't lose it.

"By the way, F-class is 'iron,' E-class is 'bronze,' and as you go up in rank, the 'material' of the badge changes. You probably already know this from TV or the internet, so I'll skip that."

 Right.

About the Seeker's badge material, as the teacher said, it is important knowledge for anyone aiming to be a Seeker.

"Just to add, the materials of the badges are 'F-class = iron (iron color),' 'E-class = bronze (bronze color),' 'D-class = silver (silver color),' 'C-class = gold (gold color),' 'B-class = diamond (clear color),' 'A-class = hihi'irokane (dark red color),' 'S-class = orichalcum (black color),' and 'Trs (Transcendence) = adamantite (rainbow color).

"The badges from F-class to B-class are made from minerals found on Earth, but A-class and above are made from minerals that can only be found in dungeons."

"Oh, so there are hihirokane and orichalcum in the dungeon?"

In the other world I was in, those fantasy minerals were also there.

That means, probably, not only are they harder, but they can also use magic, so those fantasy minerals are better and more valuable than Earth's minerals.

"'A-class and above are special'... so that's how it is."

 That's good!

That's what makes me want to try hard!

By the way, the highest rank of Seeker is 'Trs (Transcendence)', which does not have a 'rank' attached to it. It seems to mean 'a being outside the ranks' and is treated as a 'title'.

And currently, there is no Seeker with the title of 'Trs (Transcendence)' in this world.
