Volume 5 Chapter 6 Ten Years Of Stagnation

Volume 5 Chapter 6 Ten Years Of Stagnation

The guest who visited was a woman named Ms. Ran.

She had a gentle demeanor and a soft voice.

She looked to be about the same age as her or slightly older, giving off an impression of a laid-back older sister.

Since she mentioned having a request for the Nurturer, I invited Ms. Ran into my home to hear the details.

After finishing making tea, just as we both sat down in our chairs, I accidentally let something slip.

"Thank you for coming all the way out here."

"Huh? Did I mention that I came from another town?"

"Ah, I hadn't seen you around this town, so I thought maybe you were someone from far away..."

I made that assumption, but Ms. Ran placed her hand over her mouth in surprise.

"I see, so that's how it is...! Yes, that's correct. I (Watakushi) came from the Barkchip Kingdom located south of here."

 "Barkchip? That far away..."

It's a distance that takes about a month even when changing carriages.

I'm also surprised that word of the Nurturer has spread that far.

As Cosmos mentioned, since Rose has started to rise as a hero in the east, perhaps more people have begun to learn about the Nurturer as well.

"Has Mr. Nurturer been living in this town for a long time?"

"You can just call me Roezé."

After seeing Ms. Ran nod, I lightly talked about myself.

"I've been living here for a long time, or rather, I was born in this town. I traveled around as an adventurer for a while, but now I've come back to this town and I'm helping out novice adventurers."

"This town is my hometown. So it's easy to see that I'm a stranger."

Ms. Ran smiles as if he understands, then he continues as if he has just realized something.

"To think that I would gain the power to assist the novice adventurers in this town, said to be a gathering place for them, feels somewhat destined."

"...Now that you mention it, that does seem true."

I haven't really thought about it much until now, but it might indeed be fateful.

To receive the 'Trainer' job class in Hyamars, where novice adventurers gather.

Could it be evidence that the gods are closely watching over the world?

 Well, that's fine and all...

"From Ms. Ran's tone, it seems you are aware of my power as well."

"Yes. I wanted to borrow that power, so I came to visit Sir Roezé."

It's helpful that you get straight to the point.

I thought I'd quickly discuss the request, so I decided to confirm a few things first.

"I understand. If you don't mind, may I ask about the circumstances?"

 "Circumstances, you say?"

"It's not that I doubt Ms. Ran, but as a Nurturer, I must choose who to assist, so it's customary for me to ask what brought you to the Nurturer."

"I see. We can't let power fall into the hands of villains."

Despite it being a difficult request, Ms. Ran kindly shared his story.

"First, about myself, unlike those who usually rely on Sir Roezé, I am not an adventurer."

 "Oh, I see."

White robes and pure white hair.

She's a lady with a gentle appearance reminiscent of fresh snow, and she doesn't have any barbaric vibes, so she's not exactly an adventurer, just as you'd imagine.

But there are many different types of adventurers.

Even if you don't think you'll get into a fight, there are adventurers who contribute by serving as rearguards in their parties.

So I thought Ms. Ran might be an adventurer despite her appearance, but the truth was that she was just as she appeared.

"So, what do you usually do?"

"I work as a healer at a clinic facility in my hometown."

She really was just as she appeared.

From her gentle impression, it's easy to imagine her healing someone's wounds with a face full of compassion.

That means Ms. Ran has a job class related to healing.

I possess the skill 'Divine Eye,' which allows me to peek at the details of job classes recorded in Divine Revelation.

So, if I looked at Divine Revelation, I would naturally arrive at that possibility, but I usually try not to look at other people's Divine Revelation.

Because it's painful and disrespectful, you know.

Anyway, now that I know Ms. Ran is a healer, another question has arisen.

"Why would a healer want to become a Nurturer...?"

"It's the same as those who visit here. I want to grow too. If I don't, I won't be able to repay the Sephar clinic facility that has helped me this much in my journey."

 Repay...

Thinking it seemed like a complicated story, I straightened my posture once more.

After seeing that, Ms. Ran continued with slightly lifted jewel-like azure eyes, as if reminiscing about distant days.

"I was originally an orphan. When I was young, my adventurer parents passed away early, and I was sent to an orphanage."

 Her adventurer parents died unexpectedly.

I was secretly surprised to find a commonality with her in unexpected aspects.

"However, at that time, all the orphanages around were financially strained and weren't prepared to take in new children. So, the clinic facility where my parents were last taken care of took me in."

"A clinic facility taking in orphans? I've never heard of that..."

"It was partly because they sympathized with me, who had lost my parents right before my eyes and was in deep grief, but it was also because my job class was suited to being a healer."

 "Oh, I see"

Maybe because I thought she might become a healer in the future.

There are already so few people with the healing job class, and I've heard that all clinic facilities are short-staffed.

However, even with such a practical reason, raising just one child requires an enormous amount of effort and expense.

I think the reason the Sephar clinic facility took in Ms. Ran is primarily emotional.

"I have been training to become a healer since I was young, so that one day I could help at a clinic facility. I really want to repay Sephar clinic for its kindness. However, there is one problem..."

 "A problem?"

"My job class is related to healing, so ideally, like other healers, if I heal people harmed by monsters, my job class would naturally grow... But..."

Ms. Ran, who was about to speak, suddenly raised both hands as if scooping water.

And then, as if a priest were offering a prayer to God, he slowly moved his mouth.

 "[Show Divine Revelation]"

In an instant, a sheet of paper resembling parchment appeared from empty space.

Having already positioned her hands, she gently caught what had suddenly appeared.

A Divine Revelation detailing the job class.

Ms. Ran handed it over to me, and since I wasn't using the Divine Eye skill, I got to see her job class for the first time.

 [Job Class] Arbiter

 [Level] 1

 [Skill]

 [Magic] Holy magic

 [Divine Blessing]

 - Strength: F100

 - Agility: F100

 - Resilience: F100

 - Magic: E150

 - Holy Power: E150

 Arbitrator.

I frown at the unfamiliar job class.

No, there was one item that caught my eye even more.

Ms. Ran herself mentioned this and revealed the reason why she came to Nurturer.

"I've been working as a healer for ten years, but I've seen no signs of growth."
