Volume 5 Chapter 1 Dreams Of The Past
I had a nostalgic dream.
It was about my parents when they were alive, actively working as adventurers.
'Are you going on another adventure?'
'Yeah, the path to the Dragon King's Army's invasion zone has finally opened up. Many adventurers are doing their best.'
'I can't let this opportunity slip away. I know Aroze will feel lonely, but just stay home and wait quietly, okay?'
They were incredible adventurers.
At that time, as one of the few Rank 1 adventurers, they were excelling on the front lines.
Neither my father nor mother were particularly blessed with their job classes; they were hardworking individuals who honed their skills through training and effort.
When I was 5, I got to accompany them on a monster subjugation for the first time. Even though I was just a novice, I thought my parents were stronger adventurers than anyone else.
Even now, looking back at how my father and mother fought, their abilities seem on par with the hero Dahlia at her peak.
That's why when I heard that they were killed by the dragon king Dorane, I really couldn't believe it.
'Aroze, your father and mother...!'
'In the battle against the Dragon King's Army, they were killed by the dragon king Dorane...!'
The members of their party came to our home at that time, tearfully delivering the news of their deaths.
The only things that returned to me were the two swords they loved to use, which they had matched.
'I'm sorry, it's because of our inadequacies...'
'We will definitely avenge the two of you. As fellow party members...!'
Later, they too were killed in a counter attack by the Dragon King's Army.
They were adventurers who often came to my house and often played with me.
So when I heard that they too had been killed by Dorane, I was deeply depressed, and even as a child I thought the Dragon King Dorane was an infinitely terrifying being.
Dorane, the Dragon King, was a demon who had taken away many things from me, and was a symbol of fear to me.
So, the old dream has ended, and I woke up in my room.
"Ugh..."
Rubbing my sleepy eyes, I sluggishly get up.
It was nice to see my parents' faces after a long time, but it wasn't a very pleasant dream.
Because of that, I don't feel too good waking up.
"Dragon King Dorane, huh..."
He's the one who took my parents from me and the biggest goal for me as an adventurer.
But in the end, I couldn't fulfill that wish, and after getting kicked out of the hero party, I'm now working as a Nurturer in the town of beginnings.
I believe that someday, someone will annihilate the Dragon King's Army, but right now, I don't feel even the slightest sign of that.
Come to think of it, I was supposed to gather information about the Dragon King's Army from the Forest King's Army and the Spirit King's Army, but that didn't happen either.
Will the day ever come when the Dragon King's Army is defeated?
"Well, whatever, I guess I'll take a shower"
I had a bad dream, so I sweated enough to feel a bit gross.
I'm not the type to take showers in the morning, but this time I definitely want to freshen up.
Thinking that, I got out of bed, and while I was at it, I glanced at the clock and involuntarily stopped in my tracks toward the shower.
"Oh no, is it already this late?"
As a Nurturer, there aren't set starting times.
It's a different story if I've accepted a nurture request and set a meeting time with the requester, but since I have no such plans today, there's no need to rush.
However, today I have a different kind of plan.
I have an appointment that I absolutely cannot be late for.
"If I'm late, Cosmos will kill me...!"
It has been a month since we thwarted the plans of the Forest King's Army and the Spirit King's Army and restored peace to our days.
When I was going to the battle in question, I was short of troops, so I decided to gather some comrades.
And the first strong companion that came to mind was Stardust Magician's Cosmos.
She cooperated with me and accompanied me to the invasion zone of the Forest King's Army.
When securing that cooperation, I felt it was unfair to have them come along for free, so I made this proposal to Cosmos as a return.
'So, if this journey goes well, how about I do whatever you say...?'
'W-Whatever!?'
That promise is still very much alive, and the other day, Cosmos told me they had thought of the reward we discussed.
'Oh, tomorrow I'm planning to go shopping in town. Do you think you could come with me?'
So today, I have plans to go shopping with Cosmos.
There are 20 minutes left until we meet.
I thought I had left myself quite a bit of time, but maybe because of that weird dream, I woke up later than usual.
I don't have time to take a shower.
But still, going like this would feel gross.
"That's right, there's magic for times like this...!"
My job class is Trainer.
I have many powers that can help people grow.
Among them is support magic that assists in combat, including a spell called [Accel] that can make my speed faster.
That should significantly enhance my Agility, allowing me to dash through the town streets and reach the meeting place in the Central Square of the East District in less than 3 minutes from home.
Realizing I could make it in time, I hurried to the bathroom to wash off my sweat from sleep.
