Volume 4 Chapter 15 Things That Can Only Be Resolved By Strength

Cain, with an evil grin, readied his magic sword.

The moment the floor cracked under his feet, Cain appeared right in front of Randy.

His downward strike barely missed Randy's shoulder.

Still, Cain continued to swing his sword, grazing Randy's cheek and arm, causing a little blood to seep out.

"Haha! Your blood tastes pretty good!"

Cain sped up, swinging his magic sword wildly.

Randy barely managed to dodge the storm of attacks, but each time, blood splattered around him.

The fight had become completely otherworldly, leaving the crowd and the host speechless, while Ordis turned pale and held his breath.

With Randy on the defensive, Cain swung his magic sword down.

Randy turned his body to the left, pulling back his right foot, just in time to avoid the blade aimed at his head.

Still, the sword grazed Randy's bangs as he spun from the force of pulling back his right foot.

But at the same time, he landed a spinning kick to the side of Cain's head.

Cain was knocked back but quickly jumped up, grinning confidently.

The two stared each other down for a moment in the open space.

"Did you know? I'm on a whole other level!"

Cain smirked and hurt himself again, making his fighting spirit even stronger.

"This is the end for you!"

Cain's killing intent filled the air as he suddenly appeared in front of Randy.

Randy barely dodged the downward swing of the magic sword.

The relentless flurry of attacks left him no chance to counter.

Little by little, Randy was being pushed back. The crowd grew more excited.

Even so, Randy managed to catch his breath for a moment and threw off his tattered jacket.

 "Next, it's your turn!"

Facing Cain, who pointed his magic sword at him, Randy thought, "Guess I have no choice," and slowly took off his shirt.

 "...What are you planning?"

 "Well, it's like 'shedding skin'?"

Randy grinned, and veins popped up on Cain's temples.

 "I'm gonna kill you!"

"That's impossible... from here on, I'm a little serious."

Randy let out a small breath and started tapping his shoes.

 ──Tap, tap, tap, tap.

Just when the sound stopped, Randy was gone.

In the next moment, Cain's body bent and flew away.

The crowd, the host, and even Cain, who just got hit, had no idea what happened.

And it made sense. What Randy called shedding skin wasn't just a shirt. It was a special shirt with 'suppression' runes made by Liz and Ellie before he left.

Last time, Cain was too weak, and Randy didn't want to accidentally kill him, so he needed to hold back... but if holding back with his body was hard, he could use the runes. That was Randy's idea, and the two made it for him in a hurry.

Now, after rolling on the ground, Cain still managed to get back up.

 But Randy was already there.

Randy raised his fist, and Cain quickly lifted his arms to block.

Still, it didn't help because Randy's fist came down hard.

Cain's arm broke from the impact.

And the punch slammed him into the floor.

The whole venue shook from the hit, and the shaking didn't stop.

Still, Randy kept stomping on Cain, who was stuck in the floor.

"Hey, get up already. You're supposed to be stronger than the [Sword Saint], right?"

After stomping on Cain's head several times, Randy lifted it up and tossed him aside, saying, "Hurry up and heal yourself."

Cain rolled on the floor after being thrown, but Randy didn't chase after him. He just stood there with his arms crossed, watching.

He could finish it right there if he wanted. But he figured the opponent wouldn't understand anything. If he was going to do it, he wanted to break Cain's spirit, not just his bones, so he was waiting.

While waiting for Cain, Randy turned to Ordis.

"Looks like it's time for another 'touch'."

Randy grinned, and Ordis hurriedly ran out with his sword in one hand.

Ordis raised his sword... but Randy's front kick caught him.

The kick hit Ordis right in the gut, sending him flying.

Randy caught up to Ordis as he slid on the floor, grabbing his hair and lifting his face.

"Because of you... I've been avoided by Clarice since that day."

Randy glared at Ordis, his fists clenched... but then he relaxed them. The reason Clarice was avoiding him was because of his own thoughtless actions.

That day, when he drop-kicked that guy and put Victor in danger, Clarice was the first to cry and say it was her fault. She thought if she hadn't gotten close to Randy, he wouldn't have done something like that for her.

 But that wasn't true.

Even if Clarice hated him, Randy would still have drop-kicked that guy. But for Clarice, it probably didn't make sense. She might have felt like she was a burden to her brother and father.

That's when it started. Clarice began to keep a bit of distance from Randy.

Maybe she thought that if something happened again, she could prevent Randy from acting for her.

Still, he couldn't help but think that this guy shouldn't do anything stupid. So...

"I'll knock you out in a way that suits you."

After saying that, Randy let go of Ordis's hair. Just then, he noticed a figure moving slowly where Cain had been knocked down.

When he looked over, he saw that Cain was standing up, probably recovered.

 "Don't underestimate me!"

Cain ground his teeth and hurt himself to let the blood feed his magic sword. He had just said he would go further, and now he was hurting himself again. For Cain, this might be a new level where he couldn't control his power.

The fighting spirit surrounding Cain was getting darker.

"No one can stop me now... I'll kill you!"

Cain, wrapped in fighting spirit, charged forward.

He swung down from top speed.

His powerful step dug into the ground, gathering all his speed into the strike.

On the other side, Randy threw a right hook, leaving even the sound of the wind behind.

The magic sword came down, and Randy's fist hit it hard.

 The impact created a shockwave.

 "N-no way..."

Randy deflected Cain's strike and moved on.

Cain's eyes widened as his sword was knocked away, but Randy didn't stop.

He pulled back his right hand and threw a left punch at Cain's face.

 ──Bang!

It sounded like something bursting, more like a jab than a straight punch.

Even so, the impact made Cain's jaw lift slightly.

Randy wouldn't let that chance slip away.

At close range, both of Randy's fists roared.

A shock ran through Cain's body almost at the same time, and as if to finish him off, Randy stepped in and slammed his right elbow into him.

Cain bent over... and Randy brought his left hand down hard on his right fist, which was gripping Cain's face.

The powerful combination of an elbow strike and a backfist sent Cain flying.

At the same time, the magic sword slipped from his grip, clattering to the floor between him and Randy.

Now, Randy slowly approached Cain, who was rolling and spitting out blood.

 "Y-you monster..."

 "How rude. I'm human."

In front of Randy, Cain's body was slowly healing.

"Hmm? You still look like you can fight."

Randy grinned and punched Cain in the face.

His front teeth flew out, and blood splattered everywhere.

Even as Cain's body began to heal, Randy didn't let up. He punched him in the face again.

Now, A dull sound echoed through the arena.

Randy spaced out his punches, taking his time. But then, again and again, his fist slammed into Cain, each blow heavier than the last.

 "Please... stop──."

Cain, holding his head and crouching down, made Randy frown. Seeing Cain in such a pathetic state drained away the anger that had been fueling him.

 "Tch, fine then."

With a sigh, Randy turned his back on Cain. Now he wanted to take out his frustration on the other opponent, so he started walking toward Ordis, who was finally getting up.

However, behind Randy, Cain slowly stood up──

And without warning, he charged forward, grabbing the magic sword from the ground and swinging it at Randy with all his might.

 "Die!"

"You're the one who's gonna die!"

Randy turned around and slammed his right fist into Cain's stomach.

His spinning punch hit Cain's belly quietly... and Cain's body shook.

 "──Guh..."

Blood burst from every hole in Cain's body, and he collapsed to the ground.

"Well, what should I do? Killing you would be the quickest way, but..."

Randy frowned as he watched Cain's body slowly heal in front of him. At that moment, he noticed the magic sword pulsing slightly.

(Is this the secret of his special condition?)

He thought the sword got stronger by drinking blood, but it seemed like this natural healing was actually the sword's power.

(If Ellie were here, she would know.)

Randy sighed and glanced at the pulsing magic sword. Then he took out a greatsword from his magic bag. But it was just a dragon horn shaped like a sword.

It wasn't a proper sword yet, but it was still made from a dragon horn.

"Hey. Can I break this a little?"

When Randy asked, Cain looked startled for the first time and said, "N-no, wait──" It seemed like this was the best way to break Cain's spirit.

Randy lifted the greatsword and stabbed it into [Carnage]'s belly.

With a loud crack, countless wisps of mist rose from the broken [Carnage] and flew toward Cain, who screamed, "Ah, ahhh!"

The mist, accompanied by eerie voices, passed through Cain's body and disappeared.

What was left was Cain, now shriveled and looking pitiful.

His chest barely moved, and in that state, he couldn't act all high and mighty like before.

"It looked like a curse... but whatever."

Randy had completely lost interest, and in his eyes, he saw a pale-faced Ordis.

 "Isn't it still 'stop'?"

Randy pointed at the frozen host behind him with a mischievous grin.

 "Huh? What?"

Ordis looked confused as Randy charged at him... and then drop-kicked him.

Randy's feet hit Ordis's face, sending him flying out of the ring. He adjusted the impact so he wouldn't kill him, and it seemed to work out well.

Ordis, embedded in the wall, twitched slightly.

Seeing this, Randy slowly approached Ordis again.

The crowd held their breath, and even the host forgot his job and fell silent.

As Randy stepped closer to Ordis, Goldies finally snapped back to reality.

 "J-judge!"

With that loud shout, the host finally remembered his job and called out,

"S-stop right there! The winner is the Victor family!"

Receiving the announcement of victory and the delayed cheers, Randy thought, "Not bad," as he headed back to Alan.

Amidst the thunderous applause, Alan smiled at the government, which looked like a funeral.

"Well then, we'll take our leave. Tomorrow is the birth festival, so we'll be heading out early."

Alan bowed his head and continued.

"About the promise we made, please take care of it... I hope we can continue to support Dukedom as members of the same country."

After saying that, Alan left the arena with Randy without looking back, leaving behind the never-ending cheers.
