Chapter 95 Bodyguard Mission

Chapter 95 Bodyguard Mission

"Bodyguard mission for some theater show?"

 "That's right."

Captain Shidou nodded firmly as he announced the new mission, just after we finished a monster-hunting task.

"About 50 miles (80km) southwest of Asgardam, there's a small town called Gioza. A theater troupe is currently touring and will be putting on a play to soothe the beast damage."

"So, this is a request from that theater troupe?"

 "Exactly, Batigan."

"Captain! Which theater troupe are we talking about?"

 "The Wagner Troupe, Neshana."

"Wagner! Seriously? No way! That's amazing! Getting assigned to protect such a big deal... that means we're really getting noticed!"

"Don't get too carried away, Sham Neshana."

 "I know, I know, hehehe."

Wow, the Wagner Troupe, huh? From Sham's reaction, it seems like they're pretty famous.

The Reginleif squad has only been formed for about half a month, but we've already built a reputation for completing a lot of requests.

And now, we've finally reached the point where we can take on VIP missions. Awesome, this feeling of being recognized. This is how it should be on the protagonist's path.

"Bodyguard job? honestly, it's not really my thing."

"That said, we haven't had many decent missions besides monster hunting, Ms. Shura. I think it's good to have a knightly duty like this once in a while."

"You're just saying that because you want to get close to the actresses from Wagner, right? You sly dog, Quo."

"Hey, don't just assume I'm some kind of pervert, Sham. Unfortunately, I'm not interested in theater at all."

"Hold up, didn't you invite me to the play last week? Claimed you had extras, Quollio?"

"Shut up! Hiiro, stop saying unnecessary things!"

"Oh my, oh my? It seems like Mr. Quollio is quite interested after all."

"Right, sister. Mr. Quollio is a boy too, so it's actually a healthy sign, right?"

 "Ugh, ugh, ughhh...!"

 "You just lowblowed him, Lyam."

"Nice shot, huh? You're pretty good, Lyam, my sister."

 "Huh?"

It seems like Quollio's dignity is getting chipped away, but let's put that aside for now. A bodyguard mission, huh? It's a perfect task for a knight, who has a strong image of being a protector, but honestly, I agree with Shura on this one. It's different from just going out to defeat something.

(But it's definitely a knightly event. So, the person we're guarding has some big-shot background, huh? Big deal.)

(What do you mean by background?)

 (Like a princess or something.)

(But the current king of Asgardam is a young man, so there's no princess, right?)

(Don't crush my fantasy! You heartless, ruthless!)

 (Hahaha!)

A little daydreaming is fine, right? It's like saying you should attack during a hero's transformation scene or something. What a truly ruthless just like her name. I guess I fell silent because of my frustration with the realist iron pipe.

As I thought so, Lyam spoke to me as if to reassure me.

 "You're going to be fine."

 "Huh?"

"If it's Hiiro, you can handle a bodyguard mission just like always. Have confidence."

"Hmph, what's wrong with you? I crush every mission, no matter what."

 "Yes, that's right!"

Lyam seemed pleased with my confident response and smiled shyly.

There was something mature about that smile. Maybe it was the effect of calling me Hiiro the other day during that rough treatment.

 "Hiiro, huh?"

"What's eating you? Don't give me some vague crap."

 "Not really. Nothing at all."

 "...the hell?"

But for some reason, I've been getting more glares from Shura lately. Since she's such an incredibly beautiful girl, her intensity is overwhelming, and I wish she'd ease up a bit.

"I just wanted to practice a little."

 "What kind of practice?"

 "Practicing to cut you."

"Oh, you think it's funny? I'm gonna get sliced apart!"

"Shut up, you idiot, pervert, enemy of women!"

"The last 2 have nothing to do with practices!"

 "They're definitely true, idiot Hiiro!"

That did not feel like practice at all!

Moreover, the enemy of women, huh?

I think I'm pretty gentlemanly, though!?

Damn, is this also the influence of Hiiro's sharp tongue?

Or maybe I just did something totally uncool without realizing it.

I don't know. But since I can't just let that slide, I was about to fight back with words.

 "────Everyone, sit up straight!!"

My chance to retort was completely wiped out by a shout from the one-eyed captain.

After that, we ended up getting a long lecture about how we should listen to the captain until the end, which was a pretty reasonable scolding, considering our youthful foolishness.

By the way, when I had to carry Lyam, who couldn't stand up because her legs were numb from sitting for so long, I ended up getting glared at again by the grumpy Shura.
