Volume 2 Chapter 6 Princess Knight
"Um, if you don't mind, could I ask for your names again?"
As I prepared to listen to their story, I asked the two visitors for their names once more.
The blue-haired woman remained silent, as before, not uttering a word.
She just stared at me with an emotionless expression.
So, the elderly lady in the apron spoke on her behalf.
"Allow me to introduce you to Milady Nemophila Amicus, and I, Kikrys, am her servant, at your service."
"Milady..."
I was curious, just as I had been before, why she was calling her 'Milady'.
It was strange that she even had a servant in the first place.
Was she from some noble family?
But it was odd that she was accompanied by an elderly servant instead of a bodyguard or attendant.
Wait, Amicus...
that name sounds familiar...
"I've heard that Sir Roezé possesses the power to accelerate job class growth."
"Oh, yes. I'm currently a Nurturer..."
Well, I'll put those questions aside for now.
For now, these people are my clients, and I am a Nurturer.
I should focus on confirming the details of the request and fulfilling my role as a Nurturer.
"So, is this a request for training? Ms. Nemophila mentioned earlier that she wanted to become stronger."
"Yes, we'd like to request your services as a Nurturer to help Milady Nemophila."
Hearing this confirmation, I felt confident that I had acquired my second client as a Nurturer.
Perhaps this was the result of my recent promotion to Rank 4.
Well, it might not be directly related, but it was a fact that I met Ms. Nemophila after taking the promotion exam.
I should be grateful to Cosmos for that.
Anyway, back to the request.
"In terms of specifics, what level are you aiming for, and over what period of time?"
"The period, you say?"
"By clearly defining the training period and goals, it makes it easier for us to plan."
Now, let's say that while I'm working with Ms. Nemophila, someone else comes to visit the Nurturer.
In that case, I would have to help both of them grow at the same time.
If I know the period and goals in advance, I can create a schedule that accommodates both.
Like, I could allocate more time to the person who wants to get stronger quickly.
"The period, hmm... I'd say about 2 months, roughly. As for the level... honestly, I can't say for sure. What would be a good benchmark for 2 months?"
Two months, huh.
I think that's enough time to make decent progress.
Right now, there aren't any other training requests from others.
If I focus solely on helping Ms. Nemophila starting today or tomorrow, I should be able to dedicate a good amount of time.
I can't say exactly how much I can raise her level, as it depends on where Ms. Nemophila is currently at.
But I thought I'd at least get a rough number, so I asked her.
"Um, if you don't mind, could I take a look at your Divine Revelation? I'd like to check your current strength and job class to decide on a training plan and schedule moving forward."
"..."
Ms. Nemophila didn't say anything but nodded slightly.
Then, in a voice so quiet it almost got lost in the house creaking, she murmured.
"[Show Divine Revelation]."
Then, something that looked like a piece of parchment appeared in her hands, rolled up.
She handed it to me without saying a word.
I could use the Trainer's 'Divine Eye' skill to see the Divine Revelation without her showing it to me, but peeking feels wrong, so I asked her to present it formally.
Now, let me take a look at Nemophila's Divine Revelation.
[Job Class] Knight Princess
[Level] 1
[Skill]
[Magic] Barrier Magic
[Divine Blessing]
- Strength: E120
- Agility: F30.
- Resilience: E180.
- Magic: E150.
- Holy Power: F0.
Seeing that unexpected, or rather unfamiliar job class, I furrowed my brows.
"Princess... Knight?"
It's a job class I've never heard of.
My attention is drawn more to that strange job class than to magic or divine blessing.
Rose also asked Nemophila for permission and peeked at Divine Revelation from the side, showing a reaction similar to mine.
"Princess Knight? Does it mean 'a princess who is also a knight'? Or 'a knight who protects the princess'?"
"Uh, I don't know?"
It could mean either.
The latter feels more fitting, though.
I decided to ask the person directly what the correct meaning is, or if it means something entirely different.
"'Princess Knight' is quite a rare job class, isn't it? I can't believe you're not a real princess or anything."
At my words, the servant Ms. Kikrys tilted her head in confusion.
"Milady Nemophila is undoubtedly a 'princess'."
"...Huh?"
"Compost Kingdom, the third princess... Princess Nemophila. You didn't know?"
"..."
Princess Nemophila? The third princess of Compost Kingdom? I was left speechless, my mouth agape at the sudden revelation.
Then, I recalled the strange feeling I had earlier and realized something.
The current king of Compost Kingdom is Capucine "Amicus." Isn't that the same last name as Ms. Nemophila? And the fact that Ms. Kikrys has been calling her 'Milady' and that she serves her adds to the credibility.
I might be out of touch with the world, but I've never heard of Ms. Nemophila.
"R-Really, a princess?"
"..."
"The third princess of Compost Kingdom?"
"..."
As expected, Ms. Nemophila said nothing, just slowly nodded her head slightly.
I never thought there would be a princess in this town.
So, it took me a while to wrap my head around the situation, and I found myself flustered, my eyes darting around.
The princess is right in front of me.
She came to me, relying on me as a Nurturer, sitting in my home, sipping tea in a chair.
I wondered if it was okay that I only had cheap tea, and if I should have had better snacks.
Just then, I felt a jolt of realization.
"I-I'm sorry. I've been calling you 'Ms.' all this time..."
"...It's fine, really."
Even though I thought it was a bit late to apologize, Princess Nemophila said softly.
"Honestly, it's more awkward if you treat me formally now. Just keep it as it is."
"...Is that so? Then, okay, I'll keep it as it is."
I felt really uneasy, but if Ms. Nemophila said so, I guess I'll stick with it.
She won't get mad at me later, right? I've heard stories of people being executed for being rude to high-ranking nobles.
My heart raced as I continued the conversation.
"If you're a real princess, then it makes sense that you have the 'Knight Princess' job class. But why is a real princess in this town of Hyamars? And saying you want to 'become stronger'..."
If Ms. Nemophila is indeed a princess, then her previous actions become a mystery.
Why is a princess in a town known for beginner adventurers? And without any guards or anything.
And why did she come to me, a Nurturer, asking to 'make her stronger'? I would think a princess wouldn't need to become strong.
If she really wanted to get stronger, she could easily call upon any number of skilled mentors instead of me.
All these questions were answered by Ms. Kikrys.
"It's a bit of a complicated story... but Milady Nemophila is currently aiming to become the next king of the Compost Kingdom."
"N-next king!?"
"That's why Milady Nemophila is thinking of gaining strength and becoming stronger."
