The wings of the Phoenix Blaze King created a shockwave that blew away the cavalry, while the Dark Demon King's magic attack wiped out another cavalry soldier.
Both of them have really high attack power.
"But──there's a big opening after one hit."
As he said this, another cavalry soldier moved behind the Phoenix Blaze King.
"[Sword of Destruction]!"

The sword cut through one of the Phoenix Blaze King's wings.
"Ugh..."
The Phoenix Blaze King stepped back.
"To cut my wing... that's not just any sword."
"[Destruction]'s 'Relic Holder,' huh?"
Goldred said.
"Huh?"
"They can use part of the power of the 'Relic Holder'──no, it seems they can use some of its power."
Goldred continued.
"This information wasn't clearly written in the documents. Interesting──"
"Let's talk about that later. First, tell me about the abilities and how to deal with them."
I interrupted him.
"Well... okay."
If I hadn't interrupted, he would have gone on explaining forever, so it was probably a good call.
Goldred looked a bit sad, though...
"[Feather Cannon]!"
The feathers of the Phoenix Blaze King shot out like countless arrows.
This time, it seemed to take down several cavalry soldiers.

Attacks kept coming from the soldiers.

"Are these guys' attacks all based on [Destruction]!?"

Goldred warped the space in front of us and blocked all the cavalry's attacks.
"Thanks, Goldred."
"Their attacks can't match those of a 'Relic Holder.' Even for [Destruction], it should be weaker than the original Deeta Clishe's. So──my 'Dimension Distortion' can easily block it."
Wow, that's reassuring.
"If you lose, I'll have to fight alone. I have no choice."
Goldred looked unhappy.
"We're on the same side, right?"
"...That 'Dimension Distortion' was like a 2nd spell of [Change]. Using it costs points."
I smiled wryly, and Goldred looked even more annoyed.
"Plus, to block [Destruction], I have to use the highest level of 'Dimension Distortion.' It costs points close to a 3rd spell, so I can't use it freely."
"Oh, so you're being stingy with points."
"Of course."
Goldred had a smug look for some reason.
"There will be battles ahead with the 'Arch Legion' and with you and the other holders. It's a rule to save your strength."
He's so selfish...
It's completely different from when I fought alongside the Blue Crystal team and Lily.
Even when I was trapped in another space and teamed up with Jig, Lisa, and Flora, we helped each other out more.
This guy is totally different──.
But if he's really committed to fighting only for himself, then I can trust him in a way.
He'll put in all his effort when it comes to his own interests, and he'll help us within that range.
──For now, at least.
"Hey, Phoenix Blaze King."
I thought of something and called out.
"Does that attack skill called [Feather Cannon] shoot out feathers?"
"Yes, it does."
"Feathers are physical things, right? They're not made from magic energy."
"Yeah. I coat the feathers from my wings with magic power to make them fly. The feathers themselves are real."
Phoenix Blaze King is surprisingly polite in explaining this.
"Then I can use my [Bestowal]. Next time you do that, I'll add +300 Strengthening points to your feathers."
"I see, so they'll become even stronger."
"Dark Demon King, what about you? If you have any physical weapons, I'd like to borrow one."
I turned to Demon King Grandilis.
"Physical weapons... then I will release the magic swords I have from my treasure vault."
Suddenly, the knight soldiers charged at us all at once.
"That's useless──[Dark Veil Shield (Dark De Shell)]!"
When the Demon King raised his right hand, countless black plates appeared around us.
They were small hexagonal plates, about the size of a palm.
There were hundreds... no, thousands of them floating around.
"[Sword of Destruction]!"
"[Axe of Destruction]!"
"[Whip of Destruction]!"
The attacks from the knight soldiers were deflected by the countless 'plates' and never reached us.
"This is a Demon King-level defense barrier... even a 'Relic Holder' can't easily break through it."
The Dark Demon King said calmly.
He really has the presence of a Demon King.
"Now, next. [Treasure: Unseal][Magic Sword Summoning]!"
A huge gate appeared behind Grandilis.
The gate opened wide, and hundreds, thousands of swords flew out from inside.
All of them were probably 'magic swords.'
"Go!"
Under the Demon King's command, all the magic swords shot out at once, tearing the knight soldiers apart.
The sliced knight soldiers turned into countless particles of light and vanished.
It was a complete wipeout.
"Wow──."
I gasped.
It was just like my enchantment magic, 3rd spell style.
Without me even using [Bestowal], the magic swords cut through the knight soldiers with full power.
Speaking of which──
Now that I've seen this group of magic swords, does that mean I can summon them when I use my 3rd spell style?
If that's the case, my future 3rd spell style will be even stronger──
"...Rain Garland can create weapons he has seen once and then enhance them to shoot them out. So don't show physical weapons carelessly."
Goldred glared at the Dark Demon King.
"Hmph, you should have said that from the start. I am not your subordinate──huh!?"

The Dark Demon King's form melted like mud and turned into a small statue.
No──he returned.
"No matter how strong you are, a pawn that doesn't move as I wish is just a nuisance. Your role is over, Your Majesty Demon King."
Goldred snorted.
"You're ruthless, aren't you?"
"What are you talking about?"
Goldred tilted his head, looking puzzled at my words.
"I mean, you just erased the Demon King."
"That was not the Demon King. It was just a copy with the same abilities and personality. Just a physical thing."
Goldred said this calmly.
Well... logically, that makes sense.
"But he acted with a will, like a real ally. Sure, he was a Demon King, but without any hesitation──."
"You're quite naive, Rain Garland."
Goldred stared at me.
"Your [Bestowal] is an excellent ability, but your mindset is too soft. Do you think you can reach the Final Layer like that?"
"If being emotionless and erasing allies is what you call 'mental strength,' then I don't want that kind of strength."
What I'm looking for is a different kind of strength.

We moved forward.
"I can see it. That's probably the door leading to the Second Layer."
Goldred points ahead.
"Second Layer..."
"That's right."
"How many layers do we have to go through to reach the Final Layer?"
I asked Goldred.
"According to the texts, there are 4 layers."
"Four, huh?"
"After we get through the Fourth Layer, there's the Final Layer. The first one to reach it will gain great power from the stars──."
Goldred said dramatically.
"But, it won't be easy to get there. Just like before, the 'guardians' known as the [Arch Legion] will block us at each layer."
"The ones we faced earlier weren't that strong, right?"
I said to Goldred.
"I felt like we could definitely beat them if we worked together."
"They're the weakest of the [Arch Legion]."
Goldred said bluntly.
"The other 12 classes are probably much tougher. We can't let our guard down."
"...Got it."
