Volume 1 Chapter 88 Sir Stefan And Francois
The big fried shrimp lay beautifully on the plate, topped with a creamy tartar sauce filled with chunky ingredients.
I placed the plate of fried shrimp, which had been made in large quantities, onto the cart for serving.
Eir-Eir, who was sitting cutely on the counter, took a big bite of the fried shrimp and gulped it down, tail and all.
It was almost as big as Eir-Eir!
"Pumpkin pudding!"
"Is it delicious? I'm glad. But the tail of the Bernard shrimp is hard, so you don't have to eat it."
"The tail is crispy and tasty!"
Sir Rail picked up a fried shrimp from the plate and, without using his hands, ate it all the way to the tail while saying this.
I'm making miso soup with the boiled shrimp heads, adding green onions, tofu, and seaweed, and mixing in the miso for shrimp broth miso soup.
While I was making the miso soup, Mr. Lucian, like Sir Rail, ate a whole fried shrimp in one bite, and Sir Ciel cut a piece into bite-sized chunks with a knife and fork, feeding me a piece.
"I've been thinking for a while, Ciel, don't you think you're a bit too close to Lydia?"
Mr. Lucian said this while watching me being fed fried shrimp by Sir Ciel.
"Is that so?"
"Why are you feeding her so casually?"
"Ms. Lydia's hands are full."
The fried shrimp is delicious.
The batter is crispy, the inside is packed, the shrimp is plump, and the tartar sauce is smooth and tasty.
The fried shrimp is so good that I smiled.
My mouth is full of fried shrimp.
Delicious. Happy.
I wonder if Sir Stefan thinks it's delicious too. Although the sweet feelings I once had are gone, if Sir Stefan is being controlled by something bad, I want to help him.
I don't want to get caught.
I also don't want Sir Ciel or Mr. Lucian to get caught.
Everyone is worried that if we leave it like this, people might think there's a rebellion with the Kirschtein people in the old Kirschtein territory where Mr. Wilshark and the others live.
I really think we need to do something.
"Ms. Lydia, here you go."
"Sir Ciel, it's too big... I can't fit it in my mouth..."
"Ah, I should have cut it smaller."
"Ciel, was that on purpose?"
"What do you mean?"
Sir Ciel tilted his head in confusion at Mr. Lucian, who looked flustered for some reason.
I munched on the big fried shrimp.
By the time I finished making the miso soup, Sir Rail returned after taking the food on the cart to the hallway and handing it over to the serving maid.
"You all seem to be having a lot of fun while I was carrying the food."
"Sir Rail, thank you very much. After this, we just need to bring the Miso soup... and then, we'll go check if Sir Stefan is eating properly at the venue!"
"That's right. Ciel and I stand out, so we'll hide. Rail, you blend in with the servers and bring Lydia with you."
"Leave it to me."
Mr. Lucian said this, and Sir Rail nodded strongly.
Sir Rail looks just like Sir Roxas, but his hair color is different, and he's supposed to be dead.
His sickly white hair stands out, so today he's wearing a black wig.
I'm dressed as a maid, and since I'm small, I figured it would be fine to hide behind Sir Rail.
If Sir Stefan doesn't eat the fried shrimp, I'll have to force it into his mouth.
In that case, Sir Rail and Sir Roxas will hold Sir Stefan down while I shove the food in his mouth.
I arranged the bowls of Miso soup on a new cart and covered them with cloches.
Sir Rail pushed the cart, and I walked nervously beside him.
"Princess, it's okay. Roxas is at the venue too. If anything happens, I'll carry you and run away. We can go on an adventure together."
"An adventure?"
"Yeah. Oh, but heroes usually have companions, so Lucian is the warrior, Ciel is the mage, and Roxas... what would Roxas be? Maybe a mage too? That would be too many mages... If that's the case, we could have Ciel play the role of the demon king and try to conquer the world from the demon castle, or maybe he could kidnap the princess..."
"Sir Ciel is kind, so he wouldn't conquer the world..."
"That's true. Then I guess Ciel is the mage, and Roxas is the rogue."
"What does a rogue do?"
"They play at the casino."
"A casino... what's that?"
"You don't know what a casino is? I'll take you there next time."
As we talked about this, we headed toward the courtyard.
Feeling Sir Rail's usual calmness, I relaxed my shoulders.
We passed by some maids and servers, but lately, it seems like there have been a lot of changes in the castle, with staff being let go for speaking badly about Francois or going against Sir Stefan, so no one seemed suspicious of us as we walked.
In the courtyard, there were already many nobles dressed in gorgeous dresses, looking like big flowers in bloom.
On the table were the giant fried shrimp I made.
The beautiful garden, the dressed-up nobles, the gentlemen in fine clothes, and the giant fried shrimp.
And the Miso soup was being lined up.
It felt quite out of place, and I started to worry.
Sir Roxas seemed to notice us and glanced our way.
Sir Roxas, as expected of a single Duke, was surrounded by young women. He was very popular.
By the way, Sir Roxas seems to have lost Francois to Sir Stefan, but attending the engagement celebration of Sir Stefan and Francois might make people feel a bit sorry for him.
I don't think Sir Roxas really cares that much, though.
"Is that Francois? Not just the name, but she really looks like a poodle."
Sir Rail says quietly.
Sitting in the most prominent seats are Francois and Sir Stefan.
With her curly blonde hair styled in a pompadour, Francois does kind of have a poodle-like hairstyle, now that I think about it.
She's a beautiful girlwith blonde hair and blue eyes, though.
Poodles are cute. I wonder about Francois.
"Is that kid Eir-Eir's sister?"
"Pumpkin pudding?"
Si Rail asked me. But all he got was a puzzled response from Eir-Eir, who was squirming between my chest.
"Thank you all for gathering today. I, along with the second daughter of the Rest priest family and the saint with the power of the goddess Alexandria, Francois Rest, have successfully become engaged. The eldest daughter, Lydia, was the worst, but Francois is a true saint with kindness, intelligence, and cuteness."
Sir Stefan says.
For a moment, I thought maybe I shouldn't help Sir Stefan.
I wondered if his belt would snap right now.
Or if his jacket would be on backward, or if a chair leg would break and he'd fall.
I thought about that for a second.
No, I shouldn't think like that. I can't hold a grudge. After all, Sir Stefan might be under some kind of control.
"Lydia has escaped from the Rest priest family and is living in hiding in town, trying to deceive Ciel and Lucian, but we will definitely catch her and imprison her. Francois, you don't have to worry."
"Sir Stefan, I'm scared because my sister hates me..."
Francois says with teary eyes.
Sir Stefan holds Francois's hands tightly and says, "It's okay, my precious Francois."
I thought I wanted to go home for a moment.
Sir Roxas also looked unhappy, deepening the wrinkles on his forehead. Sir Rail muttered quietly, "What a farce."
"Now everyone, it's a celebration. Please eat and drink as much as you want."
"Sir Stefan, the food is quite different today."
"This... brings back memories. It's something called fried shrimp that I used to eat with my father. The chef must have been thoughtful."
"...Fried shrimp."
Francois looked suspiciously at the plate.
Then, as if realizing something, she swiped the plate in front of her off the table, and it fell to the ground.
