Volume 3 Chapter 35 In Conan, Even When They Say 'part Ii!', I Don’t Remember The Previous Episode

"We're going to share this with the whole world. The ghost's true identity is just imagination!"

Randy snorted, and everyone, not just Ellie, looked at him in disbelief... except Cedric. After all, they had just been told that this was dangerous information, and now they were going to share it with everyone.

It's hard not to be shocked by that.

"Randy... I thought you were just a fool, but──."

"Sorry, Lady Eleonora. I need to interrupt... this might actually be really useful."

Ellie showed her annoyance clearly when Cedric jumped in, but she didn't say anything. Maybe Liz was stopping her. Anyway, since Ellie went quiet, Cedric took the chance to keep talking.

"Only a few people know this, so it could be used for bad things. If everyone knows the information, it would be harder to use it for bad stuff, right?"

What Cedric meant was that if someone spread a bad rumor, and it was obvious that it was meant to create ghosts or wraiths, it wouldn't work.

Even if they could create something, if everyone knew where it was happening, they could deal with it easily. After all, it would still be a ghost at that point.

So, by sharing it with the whole world, they would lower the value of the information and make it harder to use. Plus, as long as they had the right materials, like the magical energy that's been corrupted, there wouldn't be any real problems.

Also, for the Void Walker and the King of the Undead, even Ellie would say it takes special conditions to appear. This could be a way to hide the real method of how those top-level ghosts and wraiths show up.

But Ellie still frowned at Cedric's explanation.

"I get what you're saying, but how are you going to spread it all over the world? How will you make everyone believe it?"

Miranda agreed with Ellie. As they said, even if it's one of the biggest cities on the continent, spreading the news from the capital to the whole world and making people believe it is just too unrealistic.

But Cedric confidently looked at Randy in response to their arguments. Randy shrugged, as if to say "go ahead," and it seemed like Cedric already understood Randy's true intentions.

"Sure, as you both said, it takes a lot of effort to spread it to the whole world and all of humanity... but that's why we have the camera and the statement about 'taking down the church,' right?"

Cedric looked at Randy again, and Randy nodded silently.

The impact of photos and the church, which is a huge organization rooted in the continent. Plus, the Marquis family has connections to other continents. If they use those, and if this genius handles it, spreading the right information isn't impossible, that's what Randy thinks.

Cedric picked up the camera from the table.

"Photos, the church, ghosts... you didn't plan this, did you?"

"Of course not. It was all a coincidence. That's why it's a problem."

Randy smiled wryly, but Cedric looked at him with disbelief.

"I want to ask you one thing... you're not a reincarnation of a demon or anything, right?"

 "How rude."

Randy frowned, but honestly, it's more frightening that Cedric figured out Randy's intentions with just this information. After all, Cedric's skills are impressive, especially in a world driven by information.

He probably would have thought of it on his own, and more importantly, Cedric would definitely do it better than Randy.

In fact, what he's telling Ellie and Miranda is exactly what Randy had in mind. Even more than that...

"Ah. Should we involve the Adventurer's Guild too?"

...he's refining it to make it even more certain.

(Which one of us is the reincarnation of a demon?)

Randy didn't say it out loud, but he could really feel Cedric's true worth.

The way to present information, how to show it, who to give it to, and when. Every single aspect is impressive enough to make even Randy, who has survived in a complex information society, amazed.

Of course, he understands that until they actually try it, they won't know how it will turn out.

There's no plan that goes perfectly.

Still, Cedric shows he can quickly respond to Ellie and Miranda's counterattacks with more ideas.

After Cedric finally finished explaining his plan, Miranda nodded like she understood, and even Ellie reluctantly agreed, saying, "Well, it's worth a shot."

"Which one of you is the reincarnation of a devil?"

 "Oh? Wasn't it your idea?"

Ellie and Miranda looked at the two of them with disbelief as they laughed with mischievous grins.

They plan to involve the kingdom and the church, using their lies to help inform the residents, and eventually reveal the whole truth. If everything goes well, it could hurt the church's leaders and end the close relationship between the kingdom and the church.

"...I can't believe you think spreading information will lower its value."

Ellie sighed, probably thinking that keeping the information secret was a mistake.

"Of course, there are things that should be kept hidden──."

Randy was talking about really dangerous information. Things like the Void Walker and the Undead King fall into that category.

"──but if more people know the truth, we can prevent many accidents."

If people know that ghosts are created from fear and imagination, they can deal with it better.

"...Still, it seems like there's some bad intent in how you want to spread it?"

Ellie gave Randy and Cedric a side-eye, and they shrugged and laughed.

"Well, they say that. I thought it would be good for them to face their own logic."

Cedric smiled, and Ellie looked exasperated, saying, "You're a tricky guy." After all, they were starting off by keeping information hidden.

"Right. Should we submit the report together?"

"Yeah. If possible, wait a few days. We need to prepare... but──."

Cedric paused, worried about the danger that might come to Annabelle from sharing the information.

"I was thinking of using the magic theory teacher as a contact..."

"Oh, you mean the elf teacher, Riya. That makes sense. Elves have faith in the goddess but aren't followers, so the church can't touch her."

Cedric laughed, thinking it was a good idea, and Randy smiled back, saying, "The main thing is not to involve her."

"Not involve her... but she might end up being a hero, you know?"

"Well, I've talked to her about it──."

When they checked with Annabelle, she seemed surprised and said, "That won't happen," so it was unclear how much she believed it.

"For now, as the first step of the plan... I really want to use this camera."

 "Of course."

Randy nodded and handed Cedric the film he had prepared.

"Also, could you get a few more of these cameras if possible?"

Cedric smiled, and Randy tilted his head, looking puzzled. This was the first time Randy hadn't figured out Cedric's plan.

"What... I thought it would be better to make a big splash if we're going to involve her."

Cedric laughed with a mischievous grin, and Randy realized, "You really are a genius," promising to increase the production of the prototype and film.

"Now, just leave the rest to me. We're better at this kind of behind-the-scenes work."

 Cedric extended his hand.

"I trust you. If you need backup, just call me anytime."

Randy shook his hand back. He said he would help, but he thought it wouldn't be necessary. With Cedric taking action, a noticeable guy like Randy would actually be harder to use.

But if things got rough, then it would be Randy or Harrison's turn to step in.

 Ghosts.

 Cameras.

 The church.

 The kingdom.

As their plan came together, the sun had completely set, and it was getting a bit late for dinner.

 "Well, I should be going──."

"What are you saying? You should stay over."

Randy protested, "No, I'm technically the host here..." but Ellie didn't listen.

"There's a lot to talk about. I'll step back for a while, so you can enjoy yourselves."

With that, Ellie quickly left, and Randy's complaints didn't reach her. On the other hand, Cedric looked pleased with Ellie's words.

Miranda let out a sigh when she saw Cedric looking at her with bright eyes.

"I was ready for this when I came here, so it's all good."

It was clear that Cedric was super happy to hear that.

Seeing Cedric so excited, Randy decided to just go along with the plan. No matter how much they talked about it, there would always be some mistakes.

The way the other side moves.

 How the people react.

 When we decide to act.

None of it will go exactly as planned because people are involved. Randy doesn't really like detailed plans, but he knows he should at least think about possible surprises.

The big move that could shake the world is still a little while away. But nobody knows that the meeting to plan that move happened on a regular night with just a few people.
