Chapter 4 School Story, Opening!
Knight.
How many boys and girls' hearts race at the sound of this title?
'Knight', 'Chevalier', 'Knight Lord'
A silver shield that protects the master. A silver sword that pierces the enemy.
Sometimes, even if it leads to ruin, an unyielding silver will.
From ancient times to the present, it has been the subject of various stories, coloring them each time with its popularity.
Everyone has seen it at least once.
Riding a white horse, serving a lord, fighting with sword and shield using an unwavering will. They want to stand on such a stage.
Of course, I am one of them... and here I am standing now.
As the protagonist. Haha, this is the best!
(Plus, the scale of this main street. It's clearly a big country. What was it again, Holy Western Country Asgardam? Being the protagonist in such a setting is insane. Just imagining it makes me think I could reunite with Lady Norn.)
Asgardam. Just the name sounds grand.
And the beautiful townscape that matches the name leaves me breathless.
A wide main street, both long and broad. The number of people passing by. The huge castle visible from afar.
In this retro and mysterious scenery that you can't see in modern times, my excitement was through the roof.
(Ugh, ugh hehehe. Goddess Norn, thank you so much. I can't even sleep with my feet facing you. I don't even know which direction you are in.)
I'm glad I wasn't grinning like a fool with my outside persona.
I was truly on cloud nine. If I could just soak in this feeling, how wonderful it would be.
"Hey Hiiro, are you listening!"
A loud voice echoed, ignoring the main street.
Ah, not again. When I turned around, as expected, Ruzure was glaring at me.
"Huh?" (What?)
"Don't act like you don't know! I've been telling you not to walk in front of a noble!"
"Huh? Who cares, it's fine." (Eh, what's the big deal? It's no biggie.)
"S-S-Sir Ruzure! That Hiiro guy, he's probably still off from the fever, not back to normal yet! Hey, Hiiro, c'mon, hurry up and get to the back!"
"Ugh."
Reluctantly moving behind Ruzure, who walked with satisfaction, I couldn't help but think about how he often mentioned being a noble.
Water and oil. A snake and a mongoose. Knights and nobles are both major classes, but if you walk in front of them, they get angry, and if you don't respond to their conversation, they yell.
His noble attitude ruined my excitement.
Of course, I couldn't help but click my tongue in annoyance.
"You're such a hassle, you idiot. Don't make Sir Ruzure angry."
"Huh? And why the hell do I have to act like some damn lackey?" (Ugh, seriously, I dont wanna do that.)
"Come on... you've been doing that until now, right?"
"How the hell should I know?" (Seriously, give me a break.)
"Seriously? Please, don't glare at me from so close... Ugh. Just don't go against him. I'll be the one who suffers."
And then there's Shouk, the perfect lackey.
According to him, I was in the same position until yesterday.
No way, that's a joke. I don't want to be a spoiled noble's flunky.
Sorry, Shouk, but you'll have to keep taking the hit from now on.
"Hey, it's noisy back there! Don't do anything that lowers my dignity!"
"Y-yes, sir!"
"........."
"Hiiro, did you get that?!"
"Shut up. I got it, so face forward. You'll trip."
"Hmph, do you really think I'd make such a clumsy mistake... whoa!?"
Ignoring the warning, the nobleman skillfully steps on his own cape and falls flat on his face. Seriously, he actually fell.
What is this overwhelming sense of smallness? In less than an hour of meeting, his reputation has already taken a huge hit.
".........Don't step on yourself while you're talking!"
"Ugh, shut up!! Just help me up already!!"
He orders as if it's as natural as breathing.
As I hurriedly help Shouk up, I can't shake off this strange feeling of anxiety about the future.
