Chapter 37 Bad Boys Status

Chapter 37 Bad Boys Status

"With my arm, I call forth the red strength of the belt--[Earth Meging]!"

Most white magic is considered common spells.

The white magic I practiced was "levitation," "locking," and "sensing," which are all pretty basic.

But that's just most of it. Not all of it.

There are other types of white magic besides the common spells.

These include support magic. Support magic doesn't need a catalyst but requires a spell, and while there aren't many, they can be useful in real battles.

One of those rare spells is this Earth Meging.

 (Great, it worked!)

I looked down at my arms holding the practice sword to check the magic I just cast.

Earth Meging marks a red tattoo on the user's arms, boosting their attack power.

Since I just learned it, this is my first time using it in a real situation, but the glowing red tattoos on my arms showed that the magic was successful.

"Hmph, using magic right away, huh? Are you nervous?"

"Shut your mouth! I just want to smash that smug look off your face!" (Seriously? I'm showing off my magic, and that's the reaction I get?)

I thought I was making a big move, but Shouk just smirked and kept talking back.

Since it was my first time showing off my magic, I wished he'd give me a better reaction.

I took his annoying comments and turned that energy into a charge forward.

 "--Here I come!"

 "!"

I swung my sword down hard, and it made a loud whoosh.

I repeated the basic moves over and over. But the air around me screamed louder than usual.

The red tattoos weren't just for show.

The power I felt was real, and as I swung the sword, it cracked the stone floor dramatically.

 "Whoa, this strength is insane!"

"It's magic, so it's all about brains too!"

"What the hell did you just say?!"

The effect of Earth Megin was pretty good.

But it didn't knock Shouk out like I secretly hoped. He jumped back far from my sword's reach, still talking back even though he was a bit panicked.

 "Im not done yet!"

 "Like I'd take that hit!"

If that's how it's going to be, I'll keep attacking until he runs out of words.

I charged forward and swung again.

It was a sharp strike, but I couldn't catch his small frame.

(Ugh, he's as quick as he looks!)

In battle stories, small characters are usually super fast. And of course, the bad guys are quick to escape too.

Shouk dodged my sword like a mouse caught in the light, never getting close enough for me to hit him.

"You're just a coward running around!"

"Tch, like you can talk, Hiiro! Take this!"

 "?!"

Not only was he fast, but he also had a sharp sense.

He must have figured out my plan to corner him against the wall.

Not falling for it, Shouk threw "golden powder" at my eyes.

 "Ugh, cheap shot...!"

"Blind you...? Hehe, you really forget things easily."

"Huh? What the... ugh, what is this...?!"

Everything he said made him sound small and petty.

I wanted to throw something back at Shouk, but suddenly, I felt a strange sensation hit my body.

(W-What is this? My body is suddenly... going numb?!)

The weird feeling was a strong numbness that shot from my toes to my hips.

It wasn't enough to make me fall over, but it felt like that intense numbness you get after sitting too long.

But what is this? Why am I suddenly feeling this way?

"You fool, you fell for it!"

"Fell for it...? You mean, no way!"

"Yep. What I threw at you was the powder from a Bilibimos. As soon as you breathe it in, it causes paralysis, a nice little trick."

 "Paralysis...?!"

"Hehe, you really are forgetful, Hiiro! You completely forgot about my special move!"

Shouk's blinding powder wasn't just a desperate move because he was cornered.

The problem with my body was definitely caused by that golden powder.

It's like a game item that gives bad effects to the person who uses it.

"Seriously? You can bring items? Are items even allowed, examiner?!"

"Of course. A knight isn't just about swords and shields. Besides, magic is allowed too. As long as it's not something too deadly, we'll let it slide."

"Too bad for you, idiot! You really thought I wouldn't use items in front of me? That's just dumb!"

If magic is allowed, then items should be too. It was a solid point that left me speechless. I could only bite my lip in frustration at my own carelessness.

Plus, Shouk's attitude. He really knows how to be sneaky and act like a little villain.

"You're getting nervous, Hiiro. From the look on your face, it seems you didn't bring any healing items... Heh, you're just a useless guy with only white magic skills, huh? So careless."

(Why does he know all this... Well, Hiiro used to hang out with him. It's not surprising he knows.)

"I was worried about how to deal with your quick legs, but your dumb brain is actually a relief."

It's a real surprise attack, but Shouk wouldn't care about my complaints since I fell for it.

"This is a thank you for all the times you've been cocky with me. I'm going to have a lot of fun with you... Hiiro!"
