Volume 17 Chapter 4 Eric's Apprentice
After leaving the Levy merchant guild, Al looked up at the sky. The sun was starting to set, but it wasn't too late yet. Al decided to stop by Eric's mansion.
He was the top magician serving the Viscount Lester family.
It was a bit late, and he didn't have an appointment, so it was usually hard to meet him. However, the last time he visited in the evening, he was able to get some time with Eric.
Today, he might be able to meet one of Eric's apprentices.
The gatekeeper of Eric's mansion remembered Al. However, today, Eric and his assistants Fitz and Leda were out and hadn't returned yet; only Marcus and Lucas were there.
Al hesitated for a moment, but during that time, the two of them came out to the gate.
"Long time no see, Al."
"Long time no see, Al."
Marcus and Lucas greeted him in unison.
"It's been a while, both of you. Thank you for coming out. I just arrived in Lester today, so I thought I'd stop by."
At Al's words, both of them nodded together. They were cousins, and they had indeed been saying similar things, but had they always been so in sync?
Now that he thought about it, he might not have talked to them both together very often.
"Mr. Eric won't be back here for a while. If you have a message, I can pass it on."
"Mr. Eric won't be back here for a while. If you have a message, I can let him know."
Al had many questions about spells, but those weren't things to pass on as messages. He would just ask about Aines.
"Aines? How long ago was that?"
"Aines? How long ago was that?"
"Um, about 30 years? Maybe even longer."
At Al's answer, both of them tilted their heads.
"That's quite a while ago. At least we haven't heard of it. Maybe some of the older members in the magician guild might know."
"Yeah, maybe."
"Well, if you find out anything, please let him know. I'll probably be in Lester for a few days, staying at the usual inn, but then I plan to head to the capital."
"Got it, I'll let him know. But it might take a while."
"Got it, I'll let him know. But it might take a while."
"Thank you."
After making his request to the perfectly synchronized duo, Al returned to the (Red-Faced Sheep) inn.

In the dining hall of the (Red-Faced Sheep) inn, Al enjoyed a delicious meal made by Ras and then went back to his prepared room.
He quickly took out the box containing the spellbooks he had bought and lined them up on the table, gazing at them with delight. After thinking for a moment, he chose the weapon creation spellbook and set it aside.
'Transport'--Store
Al chanted the spell and touched the bundle and box containing the remaining 2 spellbooks. The spellbooks disappeared in an instant.
'Transport'--Retrieve
Al imagined a box containing the spellbook for creating armor (Create Armor) as he cast the spell. After a moment, the box appeared in his hands. It seemed there were no issues with storing or retrieving it.
Seeing this, Al smiled brightly.
It had been 2 months since he obtained the spellbook, and Al had learned the 'Transport' spell.
So far, he could only use 'Transport' to 2 locations that he had registered in advance with the spell. Each location was limited to a space that was 2 meters (6.56ft) on each side and 2 meters (6.56ft) high.
Al had assigned one location to an unused space on the third floor of the research tower and the other to a room he created downstream of the River of Death. The research tower was for managing his items, while the River of Death location was for ensuring safety at the teleportation destination.
Currently, he had arranged the items on the shelf in the 'Transport' space located in the research tower.
If possible, he wanted to use a larger 'Transport' space and increase the number of locations he could register for 'Transport.'
Additionally, he wanted to try making a magic bag, but he hadn't been successful with any of it yet. Malachi also didn't know much about this spell, so everything was trial and error.
For now, it seemed he could only focus on raising his skill level.
Al continued by taking out a bag of gold coins from a button-shaped magic bag that he had discreetly attached to the collar of his clothes. He planned to take this to the Levy merchant guild tomorrow to exchange it.
Just to be safe, he counted the coins and then stored the bag in the 'Transport' space in the research tower. He could move it to his bag tomorrow.
During this trip, he had been using both the button-shaped magic bag and his 'Transport' spell together.
Of course, all his valuables were stored in the 'Transport' space in the research tower.
"Right away, I want to learn a new spell... but first, I need to contact Patricia."
Al murmured as he waved his wrist and used the Ring of Pact to establish 'Telepathy' with Patricia.
'Patricia, are you there?'
'Yes, of course.'
Her reply came back immediately. Al told Patricia about Ruella's proposal.
'Thank you. Since Ruella is my friend, I would love to talk about the time we escaped together with Sir Al.'
Patricia's voice sounded happy. A friend. In the border city of Lester, Ruella was probably the only person Al could talk to closely besides his aunt, Viscountess Tara, and the servants.
'Got it. The day after tomorrow, I might be heading to the capital, so I'll try to talk to Ms. Ruella early tomorrow.'
'Please do. I'll let Malachi and Tabasa know that Ruella can come anytime.'
After that, Al talked to Patricia about the events of the day while working on mastering the spell for creating weapons (Create Weapon).

The next day, Al visited the Levy merchant guild again from the morning. Guildmaster Levy was out, but Ruella was there. Al asked her to secure a room and clear it out.
"You're quick today. Did you already talk to Princess Patricia?"
In the room where they were alone, Ruella asked Al that.
"Yeah, I did. Actually..."
Al then told her about the promise ring and how he spoke with Patricia last night through it.
Although Ruella didn't know the details, she was aware of the legend of the ring of pact. When Al explained that this was it, she murmured that Princess Patricia must be really happy.
Feeling a bit shy, Al mentioned that Patricia seemed to want to welcome Ruella as an important friend.
"That's an honor. To be welcomed by the princess of the Tempest Kingdom."
However, Al shook his head.
"Over there, Patricia cooks and gathers ingredients for her daily life. It's more like... how should I put it? She feels like a farmer's daughter? Well, it might be similar to my family's lifestyle."
"Oh? Is that so?"
Ruella said, sounding surprised.
"Well, you'll find out more when you go there."
"Hehe, that's true. I thought I was just asking for an experience with the teleportation magic tool, but it seems like I'll enjoy a lot of things, including meeting Lady Patricia."
Ruella nodded happily and asked Al how to use the teleportation magic tool.
"Yeah, she hasn't had a chance to talk to outsiders for a while. She'll definitely be happy."
"Got it. So, can I keep the teleportation magic tool? I don't think I'll be back right away, so I should talk to Barbara and use it from my room instead. Will you come back in the evening?"
As she said, if Ruella teleported from this room with just the two of them, it might create some strange rumors in the Levy merchant guild's main branch. Al nodded at Ruella's suggestion.
That would be better. It was hard to believe Ruella would run off with the magic tool.
"Okay, I'll leave the old gold coins we talked about yesterday with you. Please exchange them for me."
Al said this and took out a heavy bag of coins from the bottom of his backpack, placing it on the table.
"Understood. I'll ask Barbara about that too. Thank you for everything."
Al nodded and left the room. Barbara was waiting outside. Al bowed and temporarily left the Levy merchant guild.
