Volume 7 Chapter 6 Stone Hurling Bongo
At first, Al and his friends searched by walking, but they found it easier to use the 'Floating Eye' spell. The jungle was tiring to walk through, but with the 'Floating Eye,' they could fly and see a larger area from above. However, they faced a challenge: it was hard to walk while controlling the 'Floating Eye.' So, they decided to use the spell to find a good spot and then move there together.
Using this method, they managed to find about 100 Raindrops by the time evening approached.
"This direction doesn't have any more. Let's stop for now and search in another direction."
Al canceled the 'Floating Eye' spell and continued moving west. He stretched his arms and took a sip from his water bottle, pausing to relax. Using the 'Floating Eye' required him to pay attention to both the eye's view and his own surroundings. Even for someone as focused as Al, it was tiring work.
"Wait a minute, Al. We need to prepare for night soon. If we go south for about 30 minutes, we should be able to get back to the river, so I think we should camp nearby."
Orson said, stopping Al as he was about to cast another spell. Looking around, he noticed it was starting to get a bit dark.
"Is that so? So we're spending the night here."
Al surveyed his surroundings, reflecting on their situation. The jungle was dark even in daylight, and it would be pitch black after sunset. He looked at Madoc and Najira, realizing that it would be difficult for just him and Orson to handle the night watch alone. Najira caught his eye and returned his gaze with a curious look. Al smiled warmly to ease the moment.
"Given our plans to move, it's only natural to camp here. Can we move soon?"
Orson asked Al in a tone that suggested it was obvious, as he stood up from the decaying log he had been sitting on. Al stood up as well and looked around. Suddenly, a brown shadow crossed the edge of his vision.
"Huh? It might be a Stone Hurling Bongo again."
He stared intently in the direction where he thought he saw the brown shadow. It wasn't just one. There were about 3 Stone Hurling Bongo. They were still about 100 meters away ( 328 feet), but they were coming toward them.
"This is bad, they're coming this way. Orson, get on the chair..."
Al hurriedly slung his bag over his shoulder. Three of them was manageable, but there could be many more behind them. If they didn't change their path before the creatures noticed them, it would be a big problem. Madoc and Najira also quickly stood up.
"There's almost no wind, but the wind is coming from this direction."
Orson pointed west while hurriedly sitting down. He wasn't sure how sharp the Stone Hurling Bongo's sense of smell was, but escaping downwind seemed safer. The 3 of them started running at once.
The dense forest was filled with tree roots and bushes, making it difficult to run. Al, Orson, and Najira ran quickly, not looking back. Soon, they heard excited shouts behind them. The Stone Hurling Bongo had spotted them, and there were more voices than they expected. Al recalled Orson mentioning that Stone Hurling Bongo usually traveled in groups of about 50. If they were going to be caught, it might be smarter to find a place to set up an ambush. They needed a big rock or something to help defend themselves.
At that moment, Al thought he saw yellow and black stripes ahead.
"Hey, stop!!"
Al quickly came to a halt. Orson almost fell off his chair and desperately grabbed the armrest. Madoc and Najira took a few steps forward before stopping.
"What's going on?"
"That..."
Orson and the others were worried about why they had stopped. The three of them, except for Al, who could see well in the dark, struggled to see in the low light. Al pointed to some bushes about 20 meters ahead. In the dim forest, the stripes on the bushes were hard to see, but after looking closely, they finally noticed them.
There was a giant tiger that was easily over 6 meters long ( 19.7 feet long). It had 6 legs. It must be a Six-Legged Tiger.
The 3 of them stopped suddenly. The creature was huge and could leap at them in one bound. If they had moved a bit closer, it might have attacked. Al looked back and was relieved to see no sign of the Stone Hurling Bongo. Maybe it had stopped chasing them after noticing the Six-Legged Tiger.
"Madoc, Najira, back off slowly. Don't look up, keep your eyes on the ground. Don't turn your back."
Orson got off the 'Carrier' chair and stood to protect Al. Madoc and Najira also slowly backed up to his side.
"Alright, we're good. It's a bit big, but with the 4 of us, we should be fine. Don't panic. Whatever you do, don't let it jump at you. Al, stay back. Put one of the 3 of us between you and it. If possible, try to blind it."
The weight of the Six-Legged Tiger must be over 3 tons ( 6,000 pounds). If it jumps on them, they'll be crushed. The Six-Legged Tiger stood up from its crouched position and slowly came out of the bushes, glaring at Orson in the center. Al gasped at the sheer size of the creature.
Grrrr...
The Six-Legged Tiger growled low and took another step forward. Al bit his lip. The Six-Legged Tiger shifted its weight back and crouched slightly. It was probably gathering strength for a jump. Al decided to time his spell for when it jumped.
The Six-Legged Tiger started to run. Orson was in front, holding his usual spear. The Six-Legged Tiger jumped!
'Magic Missile!'
Al's spell was a bit slower than the Six-Legged Tiger's jump. The timing was off, and the 'Magic Missile' hit the creature's shoulder, but it didn't seem to do much. The Six-Legged Tiger lunged at Orson.

Orson's spear spun, causing Six-Legged Tiger to move its front legs to the side. Instead of taking the hit, it used its strength to deflect the attack. At the same time, Madoc's axe and Najira's sword struck at Six-Legged Tiger together, perfectly timed. However, Six-Legged Tiger twisted its body to change the angles of the attacks, reducing their power. To avoid being surrounded, it took a step back.
They stared each other down at close range. Al, standing slightly behind Orson, could smell the foul breath of Six-Legged Tiger.
"It's coming again. When it gets to you, deflect it." "Got it." "Yes."
Madoc and Najira replied.
Grrrr...
Six-Legged Tiger jumped.
"Magic Missile!"
Groar!
Al's ten "Magic Missiles" hit Six-Legged Tiger right in the face. With its nose, forehead, and eyes covered in blood, Six-Legged Tiger fell to the ground, writhing in pain.

Orson, Madoc, and Najira launched their attacks all at once. The 3 weapons plunged deep into Six-Legged Tiger. He continued to writhe in agony, but his resistance gradually weakened. After about 30 minutes of fierce fighting, Six-Legged Tiger finally breathed his last.
