Volume 12 Chapter 5 Departing From Channing Village

After a week, Al and the others stayed in Channing Village, but the only visitors were familiar merchants who came by regularly. Thinking it was safe now, the 3 (Al, Orson, Lippi) said goodbye to their families and the villagers, deciding to leave the village again.

However, they were heading to different places. Al was going to the border city Parker to meet Naresh, while Orson and Lippi were returning to the border city Lester.

"Orson, Lippi, thanks for everything this time. You really helped me. Because of you, it seems like Viscount Eugene and the others didn't suspect anything."

Al smiled as he said this, and Orson grinned back.

"Hehe, no problem. I was in bad shape and struggling, but thanks to you, I've made quite a bit of money these past 6 months. I even got my life saved at the hot springs in Clarence Village. This is nothing."

"Me too. I also learned a lot on this trip, like how to be a bodyguard and camp. I think I'll start working as an adventurer when I get back."

Lippi looked happy. Being with Orson had given him some confidence.

"I'm glad to hear that, but I didn't pay you anything for this trip. Please take this a little bit for your lodging and meals on the way."

Al took out 5 gold coins he got from selling Hidden Badger materials and split them into 4 coins and one coin, offering them to Orson and Lippi. He thought it might only cover their travel costs, but he figured they wouldn't accept more than that.

Orson thought for a moment, then glanced at Lippi, who couldn't hide his grin. With a sigh, he decided to accept it.

"I got my share of the money from selling the Hidden Badger materials, so I thought that was enough. But, thanks, Al. I'll take this. Lippi, you're lucky too."

"Yeah! This is my first gold coin!"

Lippi wiped the surface of the gold coin with his sleeve and carefully tucked it away in his clothes.

"And Orson, if things go well, we might be able to ask the temple for the 'Regeneration' spell for your leg. Guildmaster Levy is negotiating for us right now."

 "What?!"

Orson couldn't help but shout, and Al smirked a little mischievously.

"I asked Guildmaster Levy to sell some special materials. Because of that, we might be able to get the 'Regeneration' spell from the church in exchange for providing those materials at a low price. It's not confirmed yet, but it seems like we can ask as contributors to the merchant guild."

Orson looked stunned for a moment at Al's words, then suddenly hugged Al tightly without saying a word.

 "Is it true? Really?! Really?!"

"We're still negotiating, so it's not certain yet. Not yet."

 "Thank you! Thank you, Al!"

The force of the hug made Al step back a bit. Orson's eyes seemed to shine with hope.

"I think Guildmaster Levy will contact us again, so take it easy until then. There's still a chance it might not happen..."

"Yeah, I know. But just thinking that my leg might get better..."

Orson said happily, "We really need Guildmaster Levy to do his best."

"Well then, Orson, Lippi, I'm heading out now. You both take care."

"Yeah, Al, you take care too."

Al cast the spell 'Fly' and floated gently into the air. Orson and Lippi got on the wagon. Al waved goodbye to them and headed straight north.

As Al looked at the steep Nash Mountains on his left, he passed through the Sipree Mountains with their bare trees. He continued north along the streets of Outis until he could see the town of Gladys. The area around Gladys was flat as far as the eye could see, and it was the site of the great battle between the Tempest Kingdom and the Sylvester Kingdom.

Al's grandfather had been a magician in the Margrave Rain Knights and participated in that battle. Al wondered what kind of heroics he had done. However, he rarely talked about it, sharing more about his adventures before joining the knights.

Al turned west and soon saw the town of Gladys. After a while, the steep Nash Mountains ended, revealing the border city of Parker in the distance. To the south lay Jewel Lake, while Parker used the river from the lake as a natural moat, surrounded by fortress-like walls.

Naresh and the others should be here. He heard that he is called 'Brother' Naresh and is respected for taking care of refugees from the Senet territory, but how he is doing. According to Ruella, he seems to be working really hard.

Al chose a quiet forest to land just before the border city Parker. Madoc and Najira, who have been to the border city Parker before, said that the entrance is heavily guarded. If he suddenly fly into the city, it would cause a big commotion.

Al left Channing village in the morning, but now it's already evening. To avoid being seen with strange looks, Al stopped the wooden box, put on his backpack and the sword wrapped in cloth, and hurried towards the castle gate of the border city Parker.
