Volume 11 Chapter 20 Sirina's Confession - Philia's Sneer
After parting ways with Toxy and her favorite Sur, Philia was searching for Sur's older sister, Sirina.
The surroundings were like a complete circus. "Ugh, this Domain Control is warping space. I hate getting lost in this!" she said, while jumping over buildings with few Demons to bother her.
Then, she found a woman with jet-black skin rampaging around, screaming at the top of her lungs.
"Sur! Sur! Where are you?! Respond to me, Sur! I want to protect you! Please respond! Sur! Sur!!!"
"Wow, what a strong older sister..."
Philia thought to herself, "She's not the kind of existence that can be defeated by family," while observing from the rooftop.
It seemed that Sirina, Sur's older sister, was also affected by Chiero's Domain Control and was destroying all the enemies in sight.
However, Philia tilted her head, observing Sirina.
"Sur! This time, I'll definitely protect you! Where are you?! I won't let you suffer like that again! So don't leave me behind!"
"...That's weird. If she's so attached, wouldn't Sur-chan just come to visit if he told her he's here? Is she being restricted or something? That's...?"
Philia gazed at Sirina with an uneasy expression. Sirina's eyes showed anxiety and fear.
If she were to accept it sincerely, it would be the anxiety of not being able to find Sur, the fear of losing Sur, but...
"...Thinking about it won't do anything. It's just a small matter. My job is to kidnap Sirina-chan and bring her to Sur-chan's place."
So, Philia jumped from the rooftop, did a flip in mid-air, and landed. Sirina approached Philia because of her actions.
Philia opened her armguard from her wrist and spat out mist from it.
"Don't bother investigating unnecessary things! Let's just get to work!"
"...Enemy? Judging from the silhouette, it's not anyone from our family... Then, it must be the Demon King's army's enemy!"
The mist filled the air. Philia was the only one who could see clearly around her. Then, Philia clicked her handguard shut.
At the same time, the black-clad left general Sirina shouted.
"Domain Control: Sword of Surtr, Burning in a Dying World!"
The light around them disappeared.
"Hmm... darkness, huh. You've got some nice skills, Sirina-chan. Trying to avoid an unfair fight due to an information gap?"
The mist and darkness blocked each other's views, creating a stalemate.
But in the midst of it, a sword floated up, shining brightly. It was a sword that seemed to be burning.
"Slash it away!"
Sirina, with her black skin, swung her sword in the darkness as if it were moving on its own.
A "whoosh" sound echoed through the air as the sword sliced through it, and flames erupted from the tip of the blade, burning everything in its path.
Philia barely dodged the attack. "Wow!" she exclaimed in admiration.
"Am I the only one who can't see it? By making yourself at a disadvantage, you can give your Domain Control absolute power as compensation? Whoa, this is the first time I've seen such an inconvenient Domain Control!"
"Ugh, shut up with that nonsense! Stop saying those incomprehensible words right now!"
Once again, the sword of flames is swung in the darkness. This time, it's even more accurate, as if it's targeting Philia's voice.
"Hahahaha! But in this environment, it might not even work! We're mutually sealing each other's vision, and my defense might not be able to withstand that one hit. This is gonna be fun!"
From what she can see, the destruction has an absolute quality similar to Dragon Breath. It seems that the Domain Control, which is being operated in a disadvantageous way, has a slightly higher destructive power than Dragon Breath.
"This is bad, if it hits me, I'll be in trouble. Oh no, it's scary! Let's take it down quickly!"
Philia has already finished preparing. She lightly tossed the "certain drink" she had been holding at her waist and said,
"Come on, it's your turn!"
In response to her call, something began to stir in the darkness, like a presence emerging from the fog. The other demons, who had been swallowed by the darkness, let out short screams.
"Ahh!" "Gah!" "Geh!" "Hya!" "Ogeh!" "Gini!" "Geh!" "Ka!"
"What, what's going on? What are you doing?! Stop making those screams!"
As the screams continued intermittently, Sirina swung her sword in confusion at the center of the Domain Control.
It was a meaningless attack. Philia wasn't the source of the screams, and the one making the screams wasn't taking any damage even when slightly destroyed.
Philia doesn't call out the name of the summoned beast when she summons it.
Because if she call out, its whole body will come out, and if its whole body comes out, it'll trigger the Ragnarock, and there's no way to change that.
That's why Philia only uses her extremely limited power. That's enough. The screams continue to rise intermittently, and the probability of Sirina becoming the target increases.
"What's going on?! What's happening?! Damn it, I can't lose here! Sur, Sur!"
Sirina calls out Sur's name again. In the darkness, she's in a state of extreme limits. Only a few can remain sane in this state.
"I'm sorry! I couldn't protect you from Father! I was wrong! I abandoned you, who were suffering, even after all the painful training!"
Sirina's sword is swung, but it doesn't even graze Philia. Philia is just watching from the side, as if it's someone else's business.
"Come back! Please! I don't want this anymore! Father keeps killing me over and over! It's painful, it's bitter, so please! Let's kill Father together! Kill him, make him suffer, and let's end this!"
Philia listened up to that point and couldn't help but let out a sigh.
"What's with that. So lame. You're freed, yet you're apologizing and inviting him to take revenge? Sur-chan is saying something way beyond his capacity, but Sirina-chan is even more ridiculous."
"―――there you go."
Sirina, who was caught off guard by Philia's voice, grasped the next moment. Sirina broke, and the darkness began to clear.
What was left were the mist and the demons that had turned into globs in it. There were no corpses. Everything was still alive, but had turned into globs.
Philia walked on the stone pavement of the circus, blowing bubbles and gazing down at Sirina, who was lying on the ground with her eyes rolled back in a faint.
Philia spoke in a teasing tone, or perhaps in self-mockery.
"You know, killing your parents doesn't solve anything with anger or hatred. You should know, right?"
The mist began to clear. Philia let out a "heave-ho" and lifted up Sirina's small body, saying "I wonder if Sur-chan understands, though?" as she started walking.
