Volume 11 Chapter 1 A Little Hand Is Extended
I quickly looked around.
Don Fen is a Demon. So if he dies, he comes back to life.
But Renril ate Don Fen. There’s no sign of Don Fen coming back, and Renril took Don Fen’s Domain Control, Gleipnir.
I asked Renril.
"...If a demon gets eaten, does he not come back to life? Well, but I’ve seen dead bodies being eaten often..."
"Yeah, if you eat while they’re still alive, it’s called 'dancing and eating,' and it’s like absorption fusion between demons. So, Don Fen won’t come back."

This was one of the situations I had expected. We had caused enough trouble that the Demon King’s army had decided to investigate and clean things up.

I heard several voices overlap, and the communication ended. "Okay," I turned to Renril.
"Then let's head back soon..."
But Renril was already gone. Instead, 3 demons in what looked like Demon King army uniforms were glaring at me, saying, "Hey, you!"
"What happened in this slum? Why are you safe?!"
"Huh? Wha...?"
"Well, whatever! Any demon found safe in the slum will be taken to the station for questioning! You need to come with us!"
The 3 Demon King army soldiers were closing in. But Renril was nowhere to be seen. What was going on?
Suddenly, I felt a presence and looked up to see Renril on top of a building, waving one hand in apology and using Gleipnir to escape like in an action movie.
"..."
Renril just abandoned me.
I thought about it, but it was better than both of us getting caught, so I gritted my teeth. Damn, I can't really blame him. This is my fault for being careless.
Still, I was just an ordinary passerby. With the Demon King army investigating, other demons would likely be found too.
So what's important is—stay low-key and get away.
To put it another way, don’t fight.

"Hey, wait!"
"We've confirmed the escape of a demon found in the slum. Requesting reinforcements!"

I notice a vacant house with an open window, so I jump inside and climb the stairs to the second floor. I scramble out the window and climb up onto the roof.
I can hear the sound of the Demon King army coming into the first floor of the house. I make a few leaps along the roof and sneak into a random house, then out into the alley again.
"Did I lose them...?"
After running a bit further, I get close to the poisonous mist from Hygieia.
If I’m hiding, I could take shelter here given my endurance... but it might be worse if they see an escape route. No, I’ll skip that.
I push through the poisonous mist and keep moving ahead. Even in the slums, I sprint near the outer walls of the castle town. After a while, I reach an area filled with rubble.
There’s a small body of water. No, it’s a lake, spreading out before me.
The rubble is lined up like tetrapods along the shoreline, and the sea that Poseidon summoned spreads wide before me.
The problem is that the Demon King army has small boats prepared on the lake for their search. Though people who are submerged in the rubble are a lost cause, it looks like they’re pulling unconscious people from the water.
"This place is a no-go. And anyway, the first residential area... the Slum District 1 is completely wiped out by Poseidon."
The lake swallows the river that flows between the First Residential Area and the Second Residential Area, consuming almost half of the Second Residential Area.

Getting caught would be the worst, considering what I’ve seen of the torture in the protection tower. There are no human rights in hell. They won’t just listen to me and let me go.
"Hehehe..., you guys made me work hard...! We’re going to beat this guy up and throw him in a cell!"
Also, the Demon King’s army seems really annoyed after the chase, so they’re in a bad mood. Mixing personal feelings with work is too much.
...I guess there’s no helping it. Sometimes you have to sacrifice something to gain something else. I sigh and prepare to use magic――
"Hey, big brother. Are you in trouble?"

I widened my eyes at the words that echoed there. Looking up, I saw a small shadow.
A boy. He was much smaller than me, about the height of an elementary school student, sitting there with a grin on his face.
"If you're in trouble, should I help you?"
I blinked in surprise at his words. The Demon King’s army all looked at the boy and burst into laughter.
"What’s this kid saying? What can a little brat like you even do?"
Demons are weaker the younger they are. I had heard that somewhere. I tried to remember where I had heard it.
Right, I remember. I heard it when there was a rumor about a 'mystery' demon that was 'abnormally strong even as a child'――――
The entire Demon King’s army was cut to pieces.
"...Huh?"
It happened in an instant. The moment I looked away, a dozen members of the Demon King’s army were all turned into minced meat.
With a light motion, the boy landed on the ground, doing a little spin. His silky hair flowed down after getting caught on the corner above his brow.
"Big brother, what's your name?"
"...Wade."
"I see, Wade. That's a nice name."
Saying that, the boy grinned at me.
"I'm Gyurvi. Nice to meet you, Wade."
