Volume 10 Chapter 23 Stuffing Stones Into The Wolf's Belly
There are several reasons why I love fighting.
For example, intense battles against strong opponents who can keep up with me.
That's great. When my reaction speed and my opponent's reaction speed are evenly matched, I get a thrilling sensation, like my senses are on high alert.
But the top reason is that I enjoy thinking about how to take down my opponents.
In my past life, I loved playing games where you had to think strategically to win.
Even now, I still simulate battles in my mind, thinking about how I could've done better against strong enemies who left an impression on me.
In that sense, I was excited to face Don Fen's incoming attack.
I was looking forward to seeing if my strategy would work.
"Repulsion, Object Repulsion."
The double repulsion force sent Don Fen's claw flying back. If a single repulsion couldn't block it, I'd layer them on top of each other.
I took advantage of the opening that created and pulled out Durandal from its sheath, swinging it sideways. Of course, I also cancelled out the repulsion force affecting Don Fen.
"Whoa! I'm in a tough spot!"
Don Fen jumped high and landed on the air, using the Gleipnir as a foothold. He looked down at me from above, grinning.
"Wade, you still have some hidden tricks up your sleeve, don't you? You're a human who never underestimates his opponents, aren't you?"
"Yeah. I've been thinking about how to take you down using some abilities I haven't tried yet."
Don Fen and I glared at each other fiercely. I declared to Don Fen, holding up 3 fingers.
"From now on, I'll try 3 things. If you can't handle even one of them, you're done for."
"...You're not kidding, are you? Then, bring it on, Wade!"
Using the recoil from the Gleipnir, Don Fen gained momentum and swung his claw at me. I dodged it, and Don Fen said,
"Gleipnir, bind Wade's arm!"
The rope immediately wrapped around me. And then, I activated my first test.
"Object Repulsion."
Usually, my Repulsion can repel the enemy's attacks completely.
But it's already clear that my Repulsion alone can't handle the attacks directed at me. It's a shame to give up, though.
So I tried to use my Repulsion to counterattack against the incoming Gleipnir, just like Don Fen's claws, to see if I could neutralize it.
My goal was to at least stall for time, even if it's just for an instant. If I could do that, the accuracy effect would be lost.
But Gleipnir firmly bound my arm.
The first attempt failed. It seemed pointless to struggle, so I cut off my own arm.
"There Gleipnir, bind Wade's immortality!"
At that moment, Gleipnir ran through me. My Anahata Chakra was directly bound, and the sharpness of the cord cut me in 2.
As a result, I was slow to restore my arm while trying to break free from the binding, and blood spurted out, draining my energy.
"Damn it, Brahma!"
"You think you can win against me with your one-sided conceptual defense, Wade?!"
Don Fen closed in on me. My Anahata Chakra was still recovering, and he kept striking me with his claws.
Damn, my Object Repulsion defense wasn't in time
"Agh, ah, agh..."
"What's wrong, Wade? Is it already over for you?!"
"Not yet, I still have some left!"
After completing the restoration, I slashed horizontally with Durandal. "Gleipnir, defend!" Don Fen shouted, as he used a single cord to defend against my attack.
I chanted my true words once more.
"Brahma = Atman)!"
My consciousness shifted to my second brain, the Sahasrara Chakra.
I stroked the blade of Durandal, extracting the concept of [severing] from the sword and reinforcing it onto Durandal.
The cord controlled by Don Fen's will, Gleipnir, had a conceptual defense similar to indestructibility.
So physically, it was impossible to cut. That's what I focused on.
From my numerous experiences of destroying Chakras, I knew...
Concept defense can be overcome with a concept attack. If it's indestructible, then just change it to be destructible.
That's the first move. Even if the power is infinite, if there's a difference in the amount of conceptual energy wrapped around it, it loses its meaning.
Durandal's single strike, wrapped with the concept of cutting. And as for Gleipnir――
"Wade, you think that's enough? You can't even lift a finger against Gleipnir!"
Gleipnir remained unscathed, without even a hint of disturbance.
Unbelievable, I thought. The second attempt failed too. I had bet on that hand, but it didn't work out either.
I took a big step back and looked at Don Fen.
He's strong, really strong. That's why Domain Control is no match.
I'm starving for a strong enemy, and I'm forcing his rules on me, putting me at a disadvantage.
"There are other concept attacks, but... with this feeling, they're all probably useless. If it works out, even just the concept of cutting should have some effect. If not, then the direction is different."
So, I have no choice but to try the last resort.
I laughed.
"Let's do this!"
Ah, what a fight this is. I've never been cornered like this before.
"Hey, are you going to run away again?! Then, I'll finally kill you, Wade!"
Don Fen burst out laughing. And I said, "This is the end," as I punched my left hand with my right.
What flew out was an innumerable number of crystal swords. A mountain-like number of sparkling crystal swords formed at my side.
"What the...?! What's with that amount?"
"The final attack is a saturation attack. Don Fen, how far will your Gleipnir protect you?!"
―――Object Point Shift! Object Weight Increase!
I controlled the crystal swords with gravity magic, and simultaneously launched them at Don Fen. The crystal swords poured in, their tips pointed at Don Fen.
"Ku, uu... Gleipnir, protect me!"
The crystal swords got entangled with Gleipnir. A massive number of threads instantly wrapped around each crystal sword, blocking Don Fen's advance.
So, Don Fen was taking rough breaths, standing far away from me, unscathed.
"Hah, hah, yeah, you're gonna do it, Wade... But, this is the end of the test, right? So, with this―――."
"Hey, Don Fen."
I was staring intently at that spot. Don Fen was looking at me with a suspicious face.
"...What are you looking at?"
"That. There. There―――there's a crack in this cave!"
"――――!?"
Don Fen hastily turned around, but there was nothing there.
"What's with you, just bluffing?"
Don Fen laughed and turned back around.
But I was the one who wanted to laugh.
"Don Fen, you turned around, didn't you?"
"...What's with that?"
"When I drew your crystal sword, you were worried about the amount of swords, weren't you? And when you received the crystal sword, you were the most worried, holding your breath."
"...What are you talking about?"
I said, laughing loudly.
"Don't you get it? You're going to die from your own stupidity right now!"
I clapped my left hand again. Countless crystal swords appeared, and Don Fen's face contorted.
"You've proven it yourself. This Domain Control is made up of a massive number of threads, Gleipnir. And―――there's a limit to the number of Gleipnir itself!"
"~~~~~~!"
Don Fen gritted his teeth at my words. "Crystal sword!" I shouted, pointing at Don Fen.
"Don Fen From now on, it's a magic power showdown between us! Let's see whose runs out first, mine or yours!"
A massive number of crystal swords were created and flew towards Don Fen using gravity magic. Don Fen panicked and shouted, "Protect me, Gleipnir!"
The massive number of crystal swords flew towards Don Fen, and Gleipnir entwined them all.
"Not yet!"
But I didn't stop. I kept producing crystal swords and sent them towards Don Fen one after another.
"Gleipnir! More! Stretch out more! Grow! Protect me, and crush Wade! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
Following Don Fen's orders, Gleipnir grew even more. The saturated attacks and defenses clashed. This space was filled with crystal swords and Gleipnir, which was trying to stop them.
"From here on out, it's the real deal, Don Fen! My magical power starts from here!"
I pointed the crystal sword I had been aiming at Don Fen towards the cave instead. "Huh?!" Don Fen was taken aback, and then shouted, "Defend! Stop everything!"
"Hahahahahahaha! This is fun! You're so entertaining, Don Fen! It was worth summoning the evil god, ravaging the slums, and fishing you out!"
"This crazy battle maniac! I'll kill you! You're the only one I'll crush!"
We both poured out our emotions and unleashed our magical powers at each other with all our might. I was on the attack, while Don Fen was on defense.
The space exceeded its limits, and even without gravity magic, it began to fill up with crystal swords. In front of me, and in front of Don Fen, the crystal swords were closing in like a swarm of needles.
I protected myself with Repulsion. While thinking about the magic contest, I was secretly producing magical power with the Sahasrara Chakra, and was winning with infinite magical power.
Meanwhile, Don Fen, who had lost his composure, was clearly getting flustered. I could hear his distant voice shouting, "Damn it, damn it!"
The one who was at a disadvantage was Don Fen.
"Release Gleipnir!"
With a sound, the Domain Control was released. The packed crystal swords were blown away from me by the power of Repulsion.
The direction I was heading was already decided.
"It's the finishing blow, Don Fen! Take another hit!"
"You damn... Am I going to die from this?!"
The point of gravity shifted, and the crystal swords all turned towards Don Fen. Hundreds, thousands of crystal swords were attacking Don Fen.
And yet, Don Fen managed to endure, even if only slightly. He was still standing, covered in blood, like a mountain of inverted swords.
However, the Crystal Sword was a one-hit kill.
"Not yet! Waaaadeeee!"
"No, it's over. ――――Explode, Crystal Sword!"
The Crystal Sword obeyed the command and detonated inside Don Fen. It turned into a crystal-like rock, and Don Fen met his demise.
