Volume 9 Chapter 27 Eik The Great Deer
As I observed Eik with my Ajna Chakra, I thought, "Oh, this guy has a gold grade."
He's not quite at the level of platinum, but that's basically a godly realm. The realm of gods isn't that lenient. There's no one who can reach Arthur, the platinum sword, in their first battle.
But he's stronger than me when I was still trying to become gold. That was clear.
As expected, he's a powerful demon (Majin) among the average silver ranks, and he's considered a strong one. He's really strong, I think.
So I, with a smile, beckoned him with my finger.
"Come on, let's play."
"―――You're just a fleeing rat!"
Eik's figure vanished.
A little late, the shockwave hit me.
"Whoa!"
I felt the sound and shock through Repulsion. When I realized it, I was sent flying into the air along with the debris.
It reminded me of when I fought Sieg. It was the same, and I was blown away along with everything else.
"Is that a charge? It's incredibly fast. I want to see it again, no, twice. If I do, I might be able to keep up."
Of course, I was unharmed. With [Weight Reduce] and [Repulsion] working around my body, I just floated lightly. A half-hearted attack wouldn't be able to penetrate this guard.
But before I knew it, Eik jumped up above me and said,
"I see. That spare strength of yours is due to your sorcery defense. ―――Then, I'll do it like this."
Eik touched his horn again. The rune shone, and a strange aura enveloped Eik's body.
I saw that and smiled wryly.
"Bring it on, come on."
Eik's arm stretched out towards me as I fell. His hand, which should have been blocked by Repulsion, grabbed my clothes.
"I've got you, you rat-like guy!"
Eik swung me around with all his might, and with that momentum, he threw me to the ground.
"Hahahahahaha!"
I laughed as I spun around and fell, landing safely on the ground.
From above, Eik's fist came crashing down.
Just as I dodged, his fist crashed into the ground, sending up a cloud of smoke. I quickly retreated, and Eik, a little late, used his arm strength to brush away the smoke.
"You're quite the slippery one, aren't you?."
"It looked like I could take it, but I dodged it. Deer, you're hiding something, aren't you? Bring it out. If you don't, I'll never catch you!"
"...Don't bother. I won't use my trump card on a small fry like you. My pride won't allow it."
I think the lack of magical aura is causing me to be underestimated.
If this were on the surface, I could take him down with ease, but...it seems like everything up until now has been a fluke.
In that case, I took a deep breath and faced Eik head-on.
"You're getting serious, aren't you, rat?"
"Yeah. I just want to have a good fight, but it seems like I'm holding back my real power. So, I'll just have to see how much I can hurt you..."
Demons can revive if you kill them. Unlike humans on the surface, you can't just lightly threaten them.
However, I've heard that strong demons take a long time to revive. This guy is definitely one of the strong ones. If I kill him, it might take some time for him to revive.
It's a dilemma. Should I take my time and hurt him slowly, waiting for him to get angry, or prioritize my plan and kill him quickly?
I let out a sigh and said,
"No choice. It's a shame I won't get to see your true strength, but I'll just have to kill you quickly here."
I'll just have to enjoy the process.
"―――Don't underestimate me! This rat!"
Eik's angry shout was still echoing as I leaped at him.
"Ga, ah?"
"This angle is perfect. I'll take it."
Object Weight Increase, Object Repulsion.
I applied full Weight Increase to Eik's body and Repulsion to one corner, grabbing the horns and stomping on Eik's head with all my might.
"Gaahhhhhhh!"
Eik let out a scream as he was crushed into the ground. The horns and I were strongly repelled back up into the air.
As a result, one second. In that one second, I ripped the horn off Eik's head and sent it flying, slamming Eik to the ground.
"Damn it..."
"Oooh! That's one huge horn. But it's heavier than I thought. Guess I'll just return it."
I flipped over. I weakened the Repulsion and gave myself a full Weight Increase. As I landed on the stone pavement, I used the horn to pierce Eik's body.
"GAaaaAAAaaa!"
"Shut up!"
The scream was so loud that I simply stepped on Eik's simplified head, using [Weight Increase] and Anahata Chakra's physical ability to crush it.
PAN! The sound echoed as Eik's skull shattered, scattering its contents. It was pretty tough, but if I put enough force into it, I could achieve this level of power.
Eik's crushed body lay on the ground, its blood and brains splattered everywhere. I ended up killing it in the heat of the moment... and I regretted it.
"I should've played with him a bit more..."
I let out a sigh, my shoulders slumping. Well, I guess I saved some time. Ugh...
Then, Eik's face contorted in rage as he reappeared from the department store's entrance.
"...What an insult, what a blasphemy... You, for the next few hundred years, will be trapped in a life of sl*very without freedom!"
I was taken aback by his appearance.
"Huh? Aren't you a strong demon? I thought you'd take longer to revive since you're so powerful..."
"...Are you saying that when you die, you become a different person? Unfortunately, I'm not mixed with anyone, so my revival is instant."
Eik said with a triumphant tone. Whatever he was saying, he seemed that he could revive instantly even after dying.
That meant this was good news. After all, I got to see his true power in our rematch. Eik no longer had any reason to hold back against me.
I nodded once, then beckoned it with a smile.
"Then, that's fine. Anyway, now we know each other's strength. Come on, bring it on with all your might. Don't hold back!"
My provocation must have had a huge effect, because Eik's whole body started trembling violently. Then, he let out a laugh that was like "Huh, huh"――the kind of laugh that comes after anger has circled back around.
"You're going to regret this. You're going to regret attacking this huge store. And you're going to regret humiliating me!"
As Eik said this, he gently stroked his horns. But it wasn't like before, when he would stroke them with the palm of his hand. This time, he was tracing them with his fingers, as if he was drawing a line.
"Domain Control."
When I heard those words, I caught my breath.
―――It's finally here! Domain Control has arrived!
"'Hvergelmir (Ancient Dragon, Sleeping Fountain of Death)'."
As Eik said this, he extended the finger he had used to stroke his horns.
A single drop of water fell from the tip of his finger to the ground. It was a mysterious, radiant droplet.
The moment it hit the ground, the world around us changed.
"What...?"
What I saw was a massive lake that stretched out as far as the eye could see, surrounded by a wild, snowy landscape of pure white silver.
I looked down at my feet. There was no ground beneath me. The lake just kept spreading out.
I was just sinking into the lake, following the pull of gravity.
