Volume 8 Chapter 4 The Fourth Wife Of The WüRttemberg Family
Ice's persuasion had completely defanged me, but I still had something to do as a man.
In other words, I had to introduce Ridge as the 4th wife to the first, second, and third wives.
"..."
It was already night by the time we finished dinner and had some time to relax.
I stood in front of the door to the parlor of the mansion with Ridge by my side. Inside were Ice, Toxy, and Sandra, along with Clay and Moruru.
Glancing at Ridge next to me, I saw that she was trembling. Having seen me get beaten up by Ice during the day, she was completely terrified.
"I-If I mess up, I'll d-die..."
Well, that's a bit of an overreaction. Where did the little demon from the afternoon go?
"Hey, calm down, Ridge."
I put my hands on Ridge's shoulders to reassure her.
"It's true that you'll be facing Gold-ranked adventurers, but they've also been kind to you so far. They wouldn't hurt a cute girl like you."
"R-Really...? W-Will I be able to go home alive...? ."
"Oh, yeah. The one in danger is me, since they can attack me without mercy and I won't die from just anything. Super scary."

What's going to happen to me? Am I going to get beat up? If I can be forgiven for getting beat up, then I'm all for it. But if they hate me, that'll be really hard to take. I might even cry.
"A man should be brave..."
"Wade-sama? Are you going to cry? Are you okay?"
"I'll endure it... Alright, let's go. Let's go before my resolve breaks."
I took a deep breath, tightened my expression, and opened the door. Everyone who was chatting turned to look at us.
"Oh, Wade-kun, what's wrong? Why so formal?"
"Clay, sorry, but just watch quietly."
"...I see, understood."
Clay, who was quick on the uptake, nodded and folded his hands over his stomach. Moruru made a disgusted face and moved to the seat next to Clay to watch.
There were 3 women facing us. They were seated in the order of Toxy, Ice, and Sandra from left to right.
"Eh, eh, what? What's going on?"
Toxy is the one who's confused. Ice, on the other hand, remains silent with a smile, while Sandra starts to think and realizes what's happening. She's figured it out. Not on my watch.
"Wade maybe――"
"This time, I would like to introduce to my 3 precious wives a new addition, the 4th one."
I speak before Sandra can get ahead of me. Sandra doesn't seem to mind and says, "I knew it," with a smug look. I wish all 3 of them were like this.
"Eh..."
Toxy, on the other hand, is properly shocked. That's right! Toxy is the most sensible one if she's in her right mind!
I take a deep breath and push Ridge on the back. Ridge steps forward, trembling.
"Ah, let me introduce myself again! Ridge of the Noble Karditsa~desuwa. If you agree, I would like to be called Ridge of the Noble Württemberg."
Ridge says in a trembling voice. I bow my head as Ridge bows deeply. Then we both raise our heads and explain.
"During this journey, I learned that Ridge's feelings are genuine, that Ridge has grown enough to be worthy of engagement, and most importantly, that Ridge cried out of guilt towards everyone. I decided that I wanted to welcome Ridge into my family. I've fallen in love with Ridge. So I've decided to take Ridge as my new wife."
My voice is the only one that echoes in this place. A deep silence reigns over the place, unfittingly so amidst the chatter.
Toxy is the one who asks the question.
"Does that mean... you've done it?"
"No, I haven't. And I don't intend to for a while."
""Eh?""
Toxy and Ridge both look at me and raise their voices. I shake my head vigorously.
"You're not going to do that on me?"
"No, I'm not."
"You won't do it!? Why!"
"Why!? I said when I accepted you! I said I wouldn't do it for a while!"
"I'm asking for the reason! Please answer me!"
"Because it's wrong for many reasons! I'm not hungry enough to touch someone with a body that looks like they haven't even hit puberty yet!"
"Wade, you should make a move. It's pitiful for her as a fellow wife."
"Sandra's opinions aren't helpful at times like this, so I'm not going to ask."
"Sad... so sad..."
Sandra is sobbing uncontrollably. Without any expression on her face.
Toxy is thinking, arms crossed, "Hmm... I'm torn between feeling sorry for her and not wanting to be taken advantage of by Ridge-chan right now..."
I shook my head with a stern expression.
"No, that's not it. That's not the point."
"Huh?" "Uh."
Toxy and Sandra tilt their heads.
"What I'm saying is, I'm adding Ridge to my wives. Please welcome her. I'm not talking about making a move or not. Who started this conversation?"
"Toxy, it can't be helped. Toxy is sulking."
"Sandra!"
"The chair is too far away for me to reach~."
Sandra is still teasing Toxy. If this atmosphere continues, it should be fine, I thought, just as I was about to say that.
Toxy says.
"Then, we can't make a decision."
"Yeah, what Toxy said. In the first place, we're just the ones who accept the permission."
"So..."
Our gazes naturally turn to Ice who is sitting in the center. Ice is smiling at me. Has Ice been taking the boss position ever since we met again?
"...Eh, m-m-me...? ."
No, it wasn't like that. She was just watching us with a smile. Now she's a little flustered. Cute.
"Eh, uh, well...? So, ahem..."
After a cough, or rather, just saying "ahem," Ice says.
"First, Wade-kun... It's fine to add more wives. Just promise me one thing."
"Y-yes."
"Love us all equally. Love us enough. I think it's your obligation to love usall since you have many wives... Don't make any of us feel unloved, okay?"
"―――Of course. I don't even need to be told that. I'll love you all so much that you'll be sick of it."
"Yeah. That's the Wade-kun we know..."
Ice smiles ticklishly. Toxy and Sandra are blushing too. How cute, my wives. Ridge is also looking up at me with flushed cheeks.
"Then, Ridge-chan."
"Y-yes!"
Ridge straightens her back and answers in a tense voice at Ice's words.
"Ridge-chan has been aiming to be Wade-kun's wife since the beginning, so I guess we could have predicted that this would happen eventually, right? So, I just want to say, congratulations."
"Ah, thank you!"
"Well, I could kind of tell from the way you were acting when you arrived."
"I got nervous because Wade and the others were nervous. Toxy's weird question was also because of that."
"I don't know if that's support or teasing, but stop it, Sandra."
"Teasing."
"I'll beat you up later."
"Anyway, right?"
Ice says.
"Again, my husband. Please take care of your 4 wives... Ridge-chan, too, as a fellow wife, please take care of me, right?"
"Pleased to meet you!"
"Pleased to meet you!"
The 2 of them bow deeply to Ice and the others, and then let out a sigh of relief.
"By the way, Wade-kun, Moruru-chan has been growling ever since this exchange started."
"Moruru doesn't approve."
Following Clay's report, Moruru growls exaggeratedly, "Urruruuru," and glares at me and Ridge. I can't help but smile wryly at that.
"I know that, so well, just wait..."
"Moruru~! Now I'm officially your new mama~desuwa!"
"Nooo!"
Ridge hugs Moruru, and Moruru struggles with a disgusted face.
Even though she could easily shake off Weak Ridge if she wanted to, Moruru pretends to be overpowered and snorts, "Hmph."
