Volume 7 Chapter 30 Coin Castle, Destruction Of The Iron Man
Roman suggested, "Let's use magic to clean up the mess and make it sparkle!" But I replied, "I think it's better to crush Coin's spirit instead." It felt bad, but I had to be patient.
We walked down the hallway. Along the way, we encountered empty armor and floating swords, but they weren't strong enough to be our opponents. I thought they might be there to help Sick in fight.
Finally, we arrived in front of the room where Coin was waiting.
"Is this it?"
"Yes... how do we get in?"
"Let's do it with style!"
"Then I'll help with magic!"
"Alright!"
I flexed my arms, cracked my neck, and got ready mentally. Behind me, I whispered, "God, please make this boy's entrance amazing. Let him burst through the door with fire and smoke!"
Here we go!
I gave the door a light kick. Suddenly, an explosion erupted from the spot where my foot touched the ground.
The door shattered into pieces, and meaningless fire and smoke billowed out from behind me. From inside the room, Coin's loud voice shouted, "You're here!"
With the mysterious smoke that didn't sting my eyes, I made a grand entrance. Inside, Coin was sitting in a chair, staring at me with a mix of fear and anger, while a huge, muscular guy with a giant hammer stood blocking the way.
"What the... What happened to the other 2 guys? I just paid them and――."
Coin stopped talking when he saw my bloody clothes. He lost his words, opening and closing his mouth like a fish.
The huge guy, who was even bigger than Clay, was holding a massive iron hammer. He spoke to me,
"Nice to meet you, 'Slow'. I'm 'Iron Man'. So, what happened to the other two?"
"I killed them. They were strong."
"———... Your answer alone shows me that I'm ready to die. You're worthy of my life."
Iron Man, the huge guy, pulled out a scroll from his chest. It looked similar to the one Terin used, I thought.
"I used half of the big advance payment I got from Coin-san to buy this powerful artifact. I want to fight with 'Slow' without any interruptions."
Iron is unfolding a scroll, and on it, there are three letter about special runes that need to be traced with his hand.
[Creation: Arena]
When he finishes tracing, the room starts shaking and changing shape. Coin is shouting loudly, "What's going on?! I don't understand!"
The space around us is expanding, and Iron and I are surrounded by a circular arena. There's a lower level outside the arena, and Roman is behind me, while Coin is behind Iron.
I can't help but mutter to myself,
"Is this some kind of death match?"
Roman is already talking to me from the second level.
"Wade-kun, don't get too confident. Iron Man is a famous strong fighter, and Coin-san has hired many skilled people to fight for him."
Meanwhile, Coin is getting angry and shouting at Roman's words.
"Ha! With my wealth, I can do anything So, Iron, you have to win! Now the other 2 have died, it's all over! The gold-rank is the highest level, right?"
"Coin-san, I'm saying that 'Slow' is as strong as platinum, right? And platinum is a group that can beat anyone with money. You should have hired platinum instead."
"But only royalty has the money and connections to hire platinum!"
Coin is getting more and more frustrated. He's so funny. He's really getting worked up.
Iron-san shrugs his shoulders.
"I don't have anything to say to that. But I'll just do my best. 'Slow', I'll fight you one-on-one, and it's an honor to fight with you."
"I'm not going to die before you even fight! I've already made up my mind to do thatttt!"
Coin's face turned red with anger as he shouted. I told Roman, "Hey, can you use magic to clean me up?" Roman nodded and waved his hand, and suddenly I was sparkling clean.
Feeling refreshed, I walked up to Iron. Iron took a step closer, looking down at me from above.
"You're pretty small. I'm bigger than the Fist of the Dragon, so I guess it's no surprise."
"Yeah, Iron, you're huge. I didn't think I was small, but compared to you, I'm tiny. You're even bigger than Sieg, the strongest guy I've ever seen."
Iron held out his hand, and I shook it. His hand was massive, with thick muscles and a strong grip.
"Nice to meet you, Slow. I hope you can bring out your full strength."
"Likewise. I'm looking forward to a fun fight."
Iron chuckled. "This is going to be a wild ride. Is this the realm of the Platinum, the monster?"
We let go of each other's hands and turned to face the edge of the arena. We glared at each other, ready to begin.
"I'm Slow, Wade," I declared.
"I'm Iron Man, Iron," Iron replied.
After we finish speaking, we slowly brace ourselves. Roman, acting as the referee, shouted,
"――Let's get started!"
"Iron Body!"
The battle began. Iron's entire body turned into a dull gray color, like iron. I took a deep breath and focused.
"Brahma!"
I am starting to miss the gravity magic , but for now, I will focus on the battle.
...I had a plan to revive myself if things went wrong, but for now, I needed to focus on Iron.
Iron charged at me with his iron body. That alone wouldn't be a problem, but I knew I had to be careful. I drew a rune on my hand, and suddenly I could move super fast.
[Acceleration]
I dodged Iron's attack quickly and touched his hand as we passed each other. My second brain, the Sahasrara Chakra, kicked in. If Iron were just a normal iron adventurer, I could defeat him with the Rule of All Creation.
But Iron was different. He was strong, and he bit his teeth together, taking a step back to glare at me.
"Right now, what's going on...? I feel an incredibly strong magic power inside me, trying to take control."
"When you're in Sahasrara, you feel like you're being twisted and turned around. It's like when I was turned into a puppet by Mudi."
"...is it the platinum torch 'Handless'? Do monsters like you have a connection or something?"
"Yeah, that's right."
This kind of instant-kill attack is really strong, like a high-level platinum skill. People who can't die, like me, will still get killed instantly, but I can revive quickly.
But, I think, if I have gravity magic and Durandal, they might not be able to defeat my opponent. It feels softer than Sieg's attacks, but that's because Sieg's attacks are too harsh.
I miss gravity magic even more. But I don't have time to wish for something I don't have.
Iron is coming at me again, swinging his huge hammer. His attacks are so reckless and unpredictable, it's really troublesome.
When I try to dodge to the side, he changes the direction of his hammer and swings it at me again. I can feel his determination to crush me, like a veteran warrior.
He's adjusting his movements to match my abilities. He's not someone who got strong suddenly because of some special reason, but someone who has built up his strength step by step and broken through to the gold level.
I dodge his attack with a jump, and then strike back with Durandal's greatsword. The impact is huge, and Iron stumbles back, but that's all.
He's not just a body made of iron. His whole body is filled with magic power, making him as hard as a magic sword. That means he's as tough as Durandal, which is really impressive for a gold-level opponent.
"Ugh... Haha, that's really impressive, 'Slow'! I haven't been this cornered in years. And to think, my attacks aren't even landing..."
"Don't get too full of yourself with your continuous attacks that aren't even effective."
If Iron turns his whole body into iron, then even Durandal's attacks will have limited damage.
But I think Durandal's attacks are still really powerful, and the combination with gravity magic might be unstoppable.
I let out a deep sigh and thought about what I could do.
My Durandal sword alone isn't strong enough. Only Sahasrara can attack, but that didn't work. I tried using the black death sword Nergal that I got recently, but I'm not sure if it'll work against iron.
So, I decided to use both of my hands. I held my Durandal sword in my right hand and my crystal in my left hand.
I smiled a little.
"If this isn't enough, I'll think of another plan. Okay..."
I put my greatsword Durandal away and filled my left hand with magic power. "I'm gonna do it! I won't change!" I shouted, and then I dodged Iron's attack with a flip.
"First, let's set up a trap," I said.
I raised my left hand to the sky and poured all my magic power into it. A lot of sand-like crystals came out of my left hand and covered the entire floor of the fighting arena.
"What are you thinking, 'Slow'?"
"This is my strategy, Iron. If someone has super high defense, it's like they're immortal. I need to come up with an attack that's even stronger than that."
Iron seemed to understand what I was saying, and he changed his movement to attack me in a zigzag pattern.
I just waited calmly. No matter what, Iron would still attack me. So, I just waited.
Iron charged at me. His huge iron hammer was so powerful that it could crush even an enemy with full armor. I'm just a normal person, so I wouldn't stand a chance.
But Iron was attacking me with incredible speed, like a high-level attack. If I got hit, I would die. It was a simple but strong attack.
However, that's only true for normal people.
I faced Iron's iron hammer head-on. I was like getting crushed, but I didn't die. Iron was shocked and said, "What?! Seriously!"
I smiled in my mind. I would let Iron kill me once.
As I was dying, I used my "Create Chain" magic quietly. A long chain came out of my right hand, and I controlled it to wrap around Iron's feet.
"Wow, great job, Iron! Look at 'Slow'! He thinks he can compete with a veteran adventurer like you, but he's just a lowly fish!" Coin said.
"Hold on, Coin-san! That 'Slow' who was said to be invincible is not going to end like this!"
"Huh!? Don't tell me he's just pretending to be asleep! I mean, 'Slow' is... die―――."
Iron looks at me with a serious expression, and I smile back at him, even though I'm covered in blood.
"This is just the beginning. From now on, I'm going to play with you."
I use my special power, Anahata Chakra, to give myself super strength. Then, I use that power to tie Iron up with a chain.
"What...?"
Coin, the silly guy, lets out a weird noise. I stand up from the pool of blood, and...
When my Anahata Chakra starts to heal me, my injured body starts to disappear. I'm almost back to normal, except for my right arm. I look up at Iron, who's still flying in the air.
"Iron."
I say, holding onto the chain.
"You're going to be like a toy for a baby from now on."
I swing the chain and hit Iron to the ground.
Iron's strong body crashes into the ground, but even he can't take that kind of impact without getting hurt. I think he's pretty tough, though.
That's why the crystal pieces I scattered on the ground come in handy.
"Explode, crystal pieces!"
Just as Iron hits the ground, the crystal pieces explode and break Iron's body.
"AAAAAH!"
"Let's go, Iron! You're a seasoned adventurer, so you should be able to take this! You have a body that's almost invincible, so you should be able to handle this! You're going to beat him up really badly!"
I swing the chain around me multiple times. Iron keeps getting smashed into the ground, and each time, the crystal pieces explode and hurt him even more.
With each hit, a chunk of Iron's body breaks off, like a small rock. I keep doing it over and over, and it's like a deadly attack.
"AHH, AHH, AHHH...!"
Coin, the silly guy, lets out a weird noise that sounds like he's crying. Each time, the sound of the chain and the crystal pieces exploding gets louder, and Iron roars back at me.
He was trying to break free from the chains that bound his feet. But before he could, he was slammed to the ground and crushed. he struggled to get back up, but it was no use.
He was in extreme pain and felt like he was going crazy. He screamed and thrashed about, but it only made things worse. His friend Coin was terrified and felt hopeless.
I yelled out loud,
"Iron, you were a strong adventurer too! You fought bravely, with a true warrior's spirit and determination!"
But then I did something unexpected. I swung the chains and slammed Iron to the ground again. Iron's body broke apart, and his limbs started to fall off.
"You may have been strong, but you couldn't defeat the monster! You were a hero, but you couldn't become a monster yourself. Understand that and accept your defeat!"
As I kept slamming Iron to the ground, his body finally broke in 2. Iron's iron body lay on the ground, covered in crystals.
It was a sad sight. Despite being broken, Iron's spirit remained unbroken. I approached Iron's upper body and told him,
"You fought well. Goodbye, Iron."
I wrapped the chains around Iron's neck. Iron whispered in a weak voice,
"What a... glorious... battle... I was... to fall... in battle... like this..."
I lifted the chains, and Iron's iron body floated in the air.
"Explode, crystal fragments!"
I swung the chains down, and Iron's body shattered into tiny pieces.
I ended the fight and turned around, saying, "Now, it's time for the real work to begin."
Coin tried to run away, but his legs gave out. He couldn't even stand up and were surrounded by me and Roman.
"Now, Coin, do you know what's about to start between us?"
"What's going on?! Are you threatening me?! I'm not afraid of you!"
"Threatening you? What are you talking about?"
I wrapped the chains around Coin's feet. Coin's face turned pale, and he lost his voice.
"Hey, what's going on?"
"I'm telling you, you're the one who hurt me the most today."
"What do you mean?"
Coin looks up at me, and I smile and explain.
"My right arm. It's got a fake hand now, but originally, it had a special magic seal that controlled gravity."
"What...?"
"You don't get it? For adventurers like us, our right arm is the most important part of our body. And you just took it away from me. It was because of 'Oath', but you're the one who triggered it."
"No, no, no...!"
"It's too late to lie now. Do you think I would forgive you if you said something like 'Please spare my life' after what you did? That's not going to happen."
"AAAAHHHHH!"
Coin's face turns pale with fear. I smile again.
"Okay, now I'm going to make you experience the same pain that your friends went through. I'll beat you up like Iron would, breaking every bone in your body, and then I'll make you disappear like Pyro would."
Coin's face twists in terror, and he starts to tremble and beg.
I said.
"I'll kill you, and then you'll die. Don't worry. I'm an expert on the human body, so I can bring you back to life around 10 times."
"Please don't kill me! I'll do anything! Just spare my life!"
I look at Coin, who's crying and begging for mercy, and I think to myself, "This is finally over." Roman, who's standing next to me, pats me on the back and says, "Good job, Wade-kun. You did it with style."
It's not like I have a conscience or anything, but that's just how it is for nobles and adventurers like us.
