Volume 4 Chapter 36 Report, Part Iii

Alright, so, now it's just us left, me and Mudi. Mudi, with a displeased expression, skeptically mutters, "Are these guys showing off...?"

"Hey, spill it. If you're too embarrassed to directly praise your disciples, how about giving a report on whether you've done a job worthy of payment?"

Upon Alex's words, Mudi let out a heavy sigh.

"I haven't done a job worthy of payment."

 "What?"

In response to Mudi's words and Alex's stern look, Sandra and I quickly shake our heads.

"No, no, no! Mudi, that's being too modest. We've been producing results too, haven't we?"

"That's right. We even got the gold rank."

We hurriedly present our gold torch adventurer certificates. Upon seeing them, everyone starts saying things like, "Oh, they did have them after all," "These 2 wouldn't be without them in this situation," "As expected of Wade and Sandra."

"What, making me worry. Mudi, you are doing your job properly."

 "..."

Mudi, looking dissatisfied, remains silent as if searching for words. However, after sighing, he finally speaks.

"These guys are boasting, huh. Wade, show me your left hand for now."

 "Uh, sure."

I return and discreetly remove the gloves I had been wearing, revealing the crystal embedded in my left hand.

 "Oh, that crystal..."

Upon Philia's words, everyone begins to realize.

"Hey, Wade-kun. Isn't that the one where we almost wiped out...?"

"Yeah, this is the crystal eye of Eiosnight, the main crystal of the boss of the 100th floor of the Crystal Castle."

Ice, Clay, and Toxy all turn pale. It seems that it had deeply engraved itself as a traumatic memory for everyone.

"Wow, that's a great loot. ...By the way, I sold some items for loot payment."

 "Oh."

I completely forgot and cover my mouth, realizing my mistake. As Alex's gaze gradually turns colder, Sandra takes something out and places it on the table.

It was the crystal of Eiosnight.

 "Oh, this."

"I remembered to collect it properly. I forgot to hand it over."

 "Sandra, nice!"

 "Yeah!"

Expressionless, Sandra proudly flashes a double peace sign. Alex immediately takes out what looks like a mechanical magnifying glass to appraise it.

"Wow, this is amazing... The magic purity is too high. It's an incredible material. The tools we used before won't be enough. Each fragment is probably worth a big gold coin."

 "Seriously?"

Eiosnight, dazzling all over and looking quite expensive, seemed to be a real treasure trove. Knowing that, I start to wonder how much that armor is worth.

"Hey, hey, Mudi! You're seriously being too modest. You've done more than enough work. They've got some really good materials, I could even add some color to the educational fund."

 "...No, I can't accept that. I won't take anything more, I won't."

Despite Alex's high spirits, Mudi remains low-key and shakes his head. Feeling irritated, I speak up.

"Mudi, I get that you don't want to praise us, but is that all? Did we do something to make you dislike us?"

I say, and Mudi looks surprised, then chuckles and messes up my head. "Haha, you fool."

I didn't expect Mudi to pat my head, so I blink in surprise. Mudi then speaks to me.

"It's the opposite, Wade. I haven't nurtured talents like you and Sandra. Not doing enough work means that. You guys are too easy to handle."

 Mudi says to Alex-san.

"If it's a results report, let me report like this. Wade, Sandra. These guys have both become yogis. Do you understand the abnormality?"

To Mudi's somewhat sarcastic tone, only Philia mutters, "Huh, really?"

With a furrowed brow, Alex prompts Mudi to explain further.

"...Can you tell me what you mean, Mudi?"

"Oh, okay, let me explain. Those guys who are like, losers ―― talentless people. Usually, people without talent take 30 years to reach the mystery of chakra, while they got there in less than a week."

In a completely different context from Philia's report, the living room fell silent once again.

I was completely puzzled and asked Mudi,

"...Hey, Mudi, isn't that a bit exaggerated?"

"Shut up. This is the truth. Those losers take 20 years to build their chakra. Within 'Samyama,' they spend 5 years on concentration, 7 years on reflection, and 8 years on meditation. In fact, I spent that much time on it."

I widened my eyes at his words.

 "Mudi, how old are you?"

"I'm way over 100. You get it, Wade. The reason I don't teach those talentless guys is this. Yoga takes too much time. It's powerful, but if you don't master it, you'll end up as an old man and that's it. But even so, you guys are learning it too quickly."

 Mudi raised 2 fingers.

"A yogi who completes 'Samyama' in 20 years spends 5 years on chakra activation training. And then, after another 5 years, they finally start using Siddhi. That adds up to 30 years. So, Wade, Sandra, let me ask you again, how many days did it take for you to start using Siddhi?"

 ""...""

 We answered with some confusion.

"Uh... 3 and a half days, give or take."

 "...Five days."

Everyone except for me, Sandra, and Mudi stared wide-eyed and frozen.

"Alex-san. Do you understand the reason I said I don't work?"

 Mudi chuckled sarcastically.

"I just taught them. I just gave them a hint. And then, these guys reached the answer in the shortest time. You don't get it, right? I can't count how many times I felt disgusted. I knew they had an unusual talent from the moment I examined them. But I never thought they would go this far."

 Mudi said,

"These guys are monsters. They are talent monsters. Alex-san, if you want to nurture them, don't choose a mentor. No matter who the mentor is, they will quickly reach the top. It's just that they haven't caught up in yoga yet. If they do, haha, a monster that will swallow the world will be created in no time."

 "...Don't say scary things..."

I thought it was the first time I heard Alex say something so weak.
