Volume 4 Chapter 21 Brahma
The next day, my training with Sandra took a different turn.
While I was learning from Mudi about chakra activation training, Sandra was still in the middle of 'Samyama,' so she was told to sit on a nearby rock and meditate.
"Understood."
By the way, Sandra's obedience is quite impressive. She doesn't even flinch at such casual treatment, unlike me.
"Well, Wade. Starting today, we'll begin training for chakra activation. Let me briefly explain the goal of Siddhi (accomplishment)."
"It's magic in yoga, right?"
"Not entirely wrong. It's the manifestation of supernatural abilities in yoga. That's what Siddhi is all about. And to use Siddhi, you need to activate the Anahata Chakra that you've formed."
I focus on my heart area. Then, I see the second heart constructed with magic energy - the Anahata Chakra.
But it doesn't move. It's just there, visible but inactive. I have no idea how to make it work.
"Siddhi is the ability in the activated state of the chakra. So, let's move on to training to activate the chakra."
I try to imagine the structure. Since I've finished creating the external machinery, is this about activating it? And during activation, abilities passively emerge.
While pondering this, Mudi continues.
"However, consciously activating it requires intense focus similar to when you built the chakra."
"It sounds like a hassle."
Recalling that level of concentration is beyond normal. It takes using all the energy in my body just to reach that state. Repeating that isn't very practical.
"Exactly. It's quite a hassle. So, establish a routine. By performing routines at the activation timing repeatedly, you can instantly enhance your concentration to that level."
I think, if that can be achieved, it would be a practical level.
"I'll show you an example. ―――Brahma."
With Mudi's words, the atmosphere changes. Having formed a Chakra, I understand its enormity.
"...My whole body is like a mass of chakras?"
Not just the heart. Every part of the body functions as a second body constructed with magical energy.
"Every yoga's goal, the pinnacle of yogic attainment. This is it. When in the activated state, the entire universe obeys me. When reaching the ultimate enlightenment, this is what happens."
Mudi speaks with a solemn tone. Instinctively, my heart begins to submit.
Then, Mudi deactivates the activated state, returning to his usual casual demeanor.
"Wade, your goal from now on is to be able to activate the chakra with just one routine. The method doesn't matter. Maintain the same level of concentration as yesterday, and link it to the routine."
"Got it."
"And enough with the formal language. There's no hierarchy in yogis. Discard the notion of following because you're a disciple or lower. Annoying."
"...Understood."
I wonder if I'm bad at using formal language.
"So, should I run like yesterday?"
"It's fine if you want to. But do you have enough stamina to maintain that routine?"
"I see, so that's something to consider... What kind of routine would be good, though?"
"Traditionally, chanting 'Brahma' and assuming a posture is common. Just so you know, 'Brahma' represents the cosmic source in yoga."
Mudi explains it as a mantra. Today seems more like an explanation day rather than intense training, which is stress-free since no one's telling me to be quiet.
"So, does it have to be 'Brahma'?"
"Anything works. But, well, stick with 'Brahma.' Or do you have any other word you'd like to use?"
"No. Just curious."
"I see. So, what will you do? Run, or meditate with that kid over there?"
"Wade, come here, hurry!"
"Don't lose your concentration, you trash! 'Samyama' is never going to end!"
Mudi throws something at Sandra, who winces in pain. Huh, what did he just throw? Air? Did he hurt her by throwing air? Oh no...
"I want to smoothly transition into battle, so I'll focus while taking a stance."
"Got it, that's fine. Alright, let's begin."
And as usual, it was four in the morning. Training began at a time even before dawn. I took my stance, Sandra sat in meditation, and Mudi simply watched over us during the training.
It was quiet compared to yesterday. The rustling of the surrounding forest, the hooting of owls.
"You're losing focus, you little punk."
"It's fine. Let me think for now. The method is up to me, right?"
"...Okay, I'll wait."
I delve into my thoughts. Everything around me catches my attention. The feel of the wind, the sounds of creatures, Sandra, Mudi's presence. Everything distracts my thoughts. So, I let my mind wander without resisting.
Minutes pass by this way. Gradually, the scattered thoughts start to converge. It becomes tedious. Everything around me remains the same, but my brain starts to get bored.
"I see."
Mudi says. Just a while ago, even his slightest movement bothered me. But now, I couldn't care less. My focus returns to myself.
My heart. Not racing, barely moving, the heartbeat is so faint even when I pay attention.
But it's definitely there. And there, the Anahata Chakra as well. I take a deep breath. I increase its speed intensely. Almost hyperventilating. Or inducing hyperventilation.
The heartbeat slightly quickens. I grasp it. Acknowledge it. Calm my breathing. But I don't let go of the recognized heartbeat.
The second heart constructed with magic. I can see it but can't move it. So, I visualize. Mimicking the actual heartbeat's movements.
Thump, thump, a quiet beat.
I say,
"Brahma."
The Anahata Chakra activates.
"...Wade. You're gross."
While saying this, Mudi claps. I concentrate so much on my heart that I can't react to his comment.
The heart's movement is simple yet complex. Muscles that move without conscious effort. Muscles that know nothing but beating. I monitor their movements as if watching my own body, mimicking them precisely in the Chakra. Just by continuing this, sweat drips down lazily.
"Wow, and you're even maintain the activation state without being told. Well, that's fine. Keep it up as it is today. Aim to continue as long as possible."
As long as my concentration lasts, I continue to mimic. My heart beats, squeezing and releasing, pumping blood all around. It's like magic, the blood flowing from my heart's special spot, the Anahata Chakra, spreading energy all over my body.
The exhaustion was intense. Along with the sensation of vitality spreading throughout my body, my brain felt drained. After a few hours, there was a squeezing pain as if being squeezed by a vise, and I collapsed.
"Five hours since activation, huh. Not bad for the first time..."
I sense the Anahata Chakra stopping, and I clutch my head with a groan. I've exhausted my concentration to the limit, unable to think of anything.
"Today's 'Samyama' is over. Disband."
Mudi leaves me behind. Meanwhile, Sandra rushes over to me. Without saying anything, she lifts me up, supporting me on her shoulder, and leads me inside the house.
"Hey, it was early today, right... W-Wade, did you overdo it again?"
"I pushed myself to the limit today, Toxy. I don't even understand what I'm doing anymore."
"Sandra-chan, the sofa over there is free, so Wade-kun, lie down there, okay?"
"Got it."
I'm gently laid down. I don't say a word, just enduring the headache. It's painful, and all I can do is grit my teeth.
"...Are you okay? You seem to be in so much pain... Sandra-chan looks fine, but Wade-kun, are you being bullied by Mudi-san?"
"That's not it, Ice. Mudi is extreme, but he's actually kind to Wade. Wade is pushing himself to his limits and growing at an abnormal rate."
Sandra softly strokes my forehead. Her cool touch feels nice.
"So, are you okay, Wade-kun...?"
"Probably. At least for now, Mudi isn't going out of control. In fact, he's holding back."
"Sandra. Did you hear that Mudi is into Wade?"
"I heard, Toxy."
"...Wade is seriously crazy."
I couldn't make out any of the conversation happening above me. I was overwhelmed by a severe headache and ended up passing out.
