Volume 6 Chapter 3 It's A Bad Timing, But...
Just as I finished the last sip, I tried to take out the money from my pocket, but Rudel stopped me.
"Hey, can you wait a moment? I actually have some information I wanted to tell you when I saw you. It's not too late to leave after hearing this."
"...What's the deal now?"
"I've been saying it for a while. I'm a fan of Yukina the Black Blade. It's just a pure act of kindness. If you don't like it, it's my way of thanking you for joining me for breakfast."
I won't say that he was the one who sat down and started eating on his own. In the end, Rudel seemed indifferent to it all. He returned his slightly raised hips to the chair and gestured with his chin.
"Let's start with something light. It seems like your friend Brave-kun's journey is getting interesting."
"Brave's journey is considered light...?"
"It is for you."
It was supposed to be a journey to save the world.
"However, in the middle of the journey, it seems they got involved in a succession dispute of a certain noble, where they also battled demons. Fortunately, the situation have been resolved before a conclusion was reached."
"So demons appeared over there too?"
Moreover, it seems they initially blended in as mere humans. The situation I was concerned about was starting to become a reality. However, it appears they couldn't defeat the demons over there either.
"Why does it always end up halfway like this?"
"Because it's all your fault."
"Me?"
The demon in question was hired by the brother of the noble lady who was in conflict with the noble lady supported by Relix, and surprisingly, the employer was Narinki. It is believed that by grooming the noble lady's brother to be the next head of the family, he was planning to pave the way for starting a business in Arcus.

It was helpful to hear about Relix's current situation. I never thought that capturing Narinki would have such a far-reaching impact on Brave's journey over there.

Rudel leaned forward with both elbows on the table.
"I heard this rumor through the grapevine... Lately, it seems like there's someone looking for your lover."
I see. Sorry Relix, but personally, I think this story is more important than Brave's journey. I lean on the table and listen carefully again.

"It's Mikage-san."
She's skilled, beautiful, and has a good personality. It feels like the day I defeated the Kobold King with her was a distant memory. It's been quite some time, but I still remember it vividly.

To put it simply, Mikage is considered an incredibly beautiful woman by those with common sense and she also possesses very feminine characteristics. It's not surprising that there are people who long to become mercenaries just to be like her. There are those who seek to catch a glimpse of Mikage, and it's no wonder why.
"Well, that's true. However, there are a few things that concern me who are searching for her. That's why I brought this information to you."
In other words, they are not just mere fans of Mikage.
"It seems that the people searching for her are a group of multiple individuals, and all of them are rare beastmen in this country. That's quite intriguing, isn't it?"
"Indeed, it's quite an interesting gathering."
In this country, most of the people are humans, while beastmen are quite rare. If a thousand people gather, there might be one beastman among them. However, they are not nonexistent. I have seen beastmen mercenaries other than Mikage visiting the Mercenary Guild in the royal capital several times.
However, it is quite unusual for a group to consist entirely of beastmen.
"Especially, this is important. Since it's just rumors and hearsay, there are various embellishments, but there is one common thing. Among that group, there is someone who is a fox beastman with white fur like Mikage-san. Moreover, it is said that they carry a slender sword on their waist just like her."
I see. With such elements gathered, it's not something that can be dismissed as mere 'hobbyists'. This is something that should be confirmed with Mikage as well.
In a group of beastmen, it's unclear if they can be categorized together, but in addition to the condition of visiting oneself, one might understand something if there is someone with a similar appearance to oneself.
However, logically speaking, that's how it is.
"But why Mikage of all people?"
"...Could it be that something was inconvenient?"
"I'm grateful for all the various things you've told me, but it's a bad timing."
Wondering what to do, I scratched my head.
--Truth be told, ever since returning to Eubarest, Mikage has been acting a little strange. Sometimes she seems lost in thought, and then she'll suddenly wander off somewhere. She does come home every day, though, at least.
