Chapter 70 Aspiring Disciple

Chapter 70 Aspiring Disciple

 I became a noble's adopted child.

The next day, I went to the Divine Gemstone adventurer guild where I belong.

"Oh! Leaf, long time no see."

 "Henrietta-san. I'm back!"

The Guild Master of this guild, Henrietta Age-san.

She is a woman with long silver hair and golden eyes.

"After a long journey and returning so soon, did you get caught up in trouble?"

 "Huh, trouble...?"

 Was there really any trouble...?

Sighing, Mercury-san, who was accompanying me, said,

 "There were, weren't there? Demon."

 "Ah, that."

"Treat demon like that... just like Leaf-kun..."

"Are you okay? Take this when you're tired!"

I took it out of the magic bag and handed it over.

"Yeah! When you're tired, you should have an Elixir! Don't give me legendary items like they're energy drinks...!!!!"

"Huh, you're not going to drink it?"

"I will drink it! Oh, come on!"

 Mercury-san chugs the Elixir.

 She really loves Elixir!

That's why I end up making so much of it.

"Hey, Leaf, I heard you received a noble title."

"Well, I didn't ask for it."

"Hmm... but why? Why do you continue to be an adventurer?"

 Why? Why...

"Leaf, if you become a noble, you'll receive a fixed salary from the country. It's a considerable amount. You wouldn't need to risk your life as an adventurer."

"Huh, why? I'll still be an adventurer."

Huh? Both of them seem surprised.

Hmm, did I say something strange?

"Because, you know, I really love being an adventurer! With the power I got from my master, I can help lots of people, and I just love this job."

"Leaf is... Sniff... such a good kid..."

 Huh, a good kid?

 I think that's just normal.

 Mercury-san sighed and said,

"Well, if that's what you want to do, I won't stop you. But it's not like I'm happy because I get to continue being your buddy or anything!"

"Really! But I'm happy being buddies with you, Mercury-san!"

"Ack... y-you... unconsciously charming older woman... it's embarrassing!"

 Mercury-san mumbled something bashfully.

I wonder what it was. Oh well, never mind!

"I'll continue being an adventurer from now on. And, like, I don't think I'll become a noble or anything, you know?"

I just became an adopted (temporary) member of the Duke Graham family because I don't want to get sucked into being used by other nobles.

"All right. There's no doubt about it from my perspective. Keep doing your best from now on."

 "Yes!"

 Now then.

"The reason I called you here today is none other than to ask a favor of you, Leaf."

 "A favor...? What is it?"

After a moment of pause, Henrietta-san spoke.

"I want you to train the guild members."

 "Train...? Me...?"

Wow, that escalated quickly. I'm supposed to train the guild members?

"Why do I have to do that?"

"The other day... there was an attack by the demon. But we, the guild members, were completely powerless against them. When comparing our strength to that of the demon, we are like adults and children."

 Hmm...

 Is that so?

 "Leaf-kun, you seem dissatisfied."

"Um, it's not so much dissatisfaction, but aren't they about the same?"

"Huh? No way, Aerial was about to lose!"

 Huh?

"But they're about the same. From my point of view, their levels are about the same."

Pop! I could see the veins popping on Mercury-san's forehead.

"Well, from a distant perspective, it might seem like comparing acorns in a tree, but..."

"Hey, did I say something to make you angry?"

 "AHHHH! UNCONSCIOUSLY ANNOYYYING!"

Uh-oh... looks like I've made her angry. Reflect.

Henrietta cleared her throat and said,

"Recently, the activities of the demons have been intensifying. We adventurers who protect the people and the city must raise our levels to be able to cope. So, we're asking you, who have gained the strongest power through training in the village where the heroes live, to train and obtain the strongest power."

I see... I understand the reasoning, but...

 "But, I'm the weakest, though?"

Compared to Old Man Arthur and others, I'm still far from it.

"I SAIDDDD! DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF TO THOSE SUPER-DIMENSIONAL GEEZERRRRRRS!"

"Huh, why? Realistically, I've never beaten those guys before."

If you're asking for help, why not just ask the elderly people directly?

It's presumptuous for a weakling like me to be guiding anyone.

"The heroes of that village don't interfere in earthly matters to avoid causing chaos."

"Oh, yeah, they did say something like that."

"Yeah. When I approached them, that's what they said. They believed Leaf-chan could handle it."

I see... So it's been entrusted to me by them.

Well then... I guess I have to do it.

 "Got it. I'll do it."

And so, I decided to train my guildmates.
