Chapter 64 One Punch For The Monster Horde
Our carriage, with us aboard, was about to arrive in the capital city.
"Huh? I sense monsters."
Tai-chan said, twitching her cat ears.
I, poking my head out of the window, sniffed the air.
"That's true... There's the scent of many monsters."
As a pharmacist, I had a keen sense of smell from searching for herbs since I was little.
Riding on the wind from the capital city, the distinct smell of monsters mixed in. And...
"I smell blood too."
"! Did something happen in the capital city?"
"Please wait a moment. I'll use spirits to investigate."
Eileen-san clapped her hands.
Then, around her, faint green lights appeared.
I also recognized these lights. They were just like the green spirits I borrowed power from when making medicine.
I stared at the point of light.
My eyes, previously granted power by a mighty spirit of the tree called Yggdrasil, had become what they called a Spirit Eye, allowing me to see spirits.
Can I see the point Eileen-san called...?
"Huh? Even with my Spirit Eye... I can't see its form."
"That's natural. The spirits I handle are minute ones that exist in the atmosphere. They have low intelligence and can only follow simple commands."
Then, Mercury-san added an explanation.
"Spirits also have ranks. The higher the rank, the higher the intelligence and sense of self they possess. Conversely, lower-ranking ones have lower intelligence and sense of self. The spirit Leaf-kun usually borrows power from is incredibly advanced and yet unrecognized in the world, an unknown high-level spirit."
...Hmm, it's complicated and hard to understand, but I understood that Eileen-san was using spirits to observe things from afar!
"! Around the capital city, monsters are surrounding it, and adventurers seem to be fighting back."
"W-What!? Monsters attacking the capital city!? That's impossible. There shouldn't be monsters around the capital city..."
"The cause is unknown, but it is definitely an emergency situation."
Just as Eileen-san said.
If the smell of blood is reaching us, it means there are injured people.
"My Lord, what will you do?"
Tai-chan asks me.
"I will help!"
I am a Pharmacist, my job is to make healing potions, and I believe that's my reason for living.
To help people, I inherited this power and knowledge from my master.
"Tai-chan, put me on your back. We'll head out first to rescue the injured."
"As you wish."
Tai-chan jumps out of the window.
With a hum, her body glowed brightly, and at the same time, it began to grow rapidly.
She transforms into a huge monster resembling a tiger.
Tai-chan's real name is Tycoon. It's an amazing monster called Behemoth.
Although it has a form similar to a tiger, it has a mane and horns, giving it a ferocious appearance.
'My lord, hop on my back!'
"Got it!"
I put my foot on the window frame.
"Leaf-kun! What are you up to?"
"I'm rescuing the injured! I'm not a combat job, so I'd just be a hindrance in a fight. But I can at least heal people!"
"R-right... a hindrance, huh. Well... do your best in moderation, and good luck."
"Yes! I'll do my best!"
"A bit of effort is enough... Oh! Wait!"
I quickly kicked the window frame and jumped onto Tai-chan's back.
She shrunk her body and leaped out with all her might.
Thud, thud, thud! She runs swiftly through the air, able to soar through the sky.
"Prescription."
While she's doing that, I activate my Prescription skill and create what I need.
'Making Healing potion?'
"No, it's for driving away the monsters. It's a protective incense."
I can't focus on healing if monsters are bothering me.
Since there seem to be quite a few of them, let's make some strong incense.
I roll the incense into pills in my palm.
'My lord, we've arrived. We're hovering over the capital city.'
As I looked down below, sure enough, there's a sizable number of monsters surrounding the capital city.
"Alright, let's do this!"
I swing my arm up high and hurl the pill towards the ground with all my might.
Take this!
"Hyaahhhhh!"
The pill flies down towards the ground.
'Huh!? Already...?'
Crashhhhhh!!!
As soon as the pill hit the ground, a huge explosion occurred.
Colored incense immediately enveloped the capital city.
Thud! Thud thud thud thud!!!
"Huh? Did something collapse? I thought this incense was supposed to drive them away..."
'My lord... the power, it was unusual.'
"Unusual... meaning it was weak in its effect?"
Tai-chan took a deep breath in astonishment, and said...
'It's obviously because it's too strong...'
