Volume 2 Chapter 39 Wyvern Subjugation Plan Headquarters - Analysis Phase
When I returned to the party house with Sandra, I found Ice and Toxy talking in good spirits.
"Hehe... With this, even if Wade-kun gets injured, I can heal him!"
"Yeah, and my runes were quite effective too! I never thought I could hit such long distances... Oh, Wade!"
Smiling, I raised my hand.
"I'm back. I brought Sandra along since I happened to find her."
"Hey there. Sandra, who will be living here starting today, has arrived."
"Oh, Sandra-san will be living here too, huh?"
"I thought we wouldn't fill all ten rooms, but we're already over half full. Surprising."
I gently patted Ice's slightly dissatisfied head to cheer him up, then asked Ice and Toxy sequentially about Clay.
"Clay-kun still hasn't come back, right?"
"By the way, he left us pretty quickly. I wonder what he's really up to."
As we were talking about that, Clay came back.
"Phew, I'm tired. Oh, everyone's here."
"Whoa, Clay, you're covered in dirt."
"It's earth magic, you know."
Clay shrugged his shoulders, and someone retorted, "That's not the point."
Clay looked like he had just survived a landslide, with his clothes covered in dirt. What on earth had he been doing?
"Clay, go take a full-body shower first. If you come up like that, you'll definitely dirty the house."
"Of course, that's the plan. I just came here to drop this off."
He handed it over. When I looked down, it was something metallic shining in gold.
"...What's this?"
"Probably gold. Looks like I found a gold vein."
"What on earth did you do?"
"I'll go take a shower."
With a smile, Clay walked out again, and we exchanged glances, shrugging our shoulders.
"So, everyone might have different thoughts, but I'd like to talk about how to defeat the Wyvern."
""""Understood.""""
We nodded at each other and proceeded smoothly.
"Now, about what to do at the moment... Well, for now, I think we've learned various things from yesterday's investigation. Let's each present what we found and then discuss how to defeat it."
I turned my eyes to Clay first.
"Well then, let me take the lead in the first presentation. This time, I investigated 'feed behaviour,' 'vigilance,' 'poison resistance,' 'shock resistance,' and 'defense power.' Among those, I'll talk about 'feed behaviour.'"
Clay raised his index finger with a determined look.
"Wyverns are carnivorous monsters, as researched locally and in the library. They seem to target monsters that are one or two sizes larger than humans in particular. Additionally, as additional information, they show no interest in artificial objects.
In other words," Clay continues.
"It has been confirmed that the strategy I had vaguely created of, luring them with bait, is quite effective. That's all from me."
"Thank you, Clay."
As expected of a noble, it seems he has thoroughly researched and utilized the library where I was turned away.
"Next up, Ice."
"Uh, um... about 'vigilance,' when they are eating, they are completely focused and do not pay attention to their surroundings... everyone knows that, right?"
And then, Ice continues.
"But, there is an exception, so that cannot be relied upon, which I now understand. Just confirming up to this point."
Ice takes a deep breath and looks at me.
"From here, what I noticed... we found a Wyvern. I think it's probably a female. ...Its belly was swollen."
"Does that mean it's carrying eggs?"
When I asked, Ice nodded.
"Uh, yeah... so, maybe that Wyvern flying around is getting agitated because of that..."
"I was surprised. Ice, despite being jumpy, you're observant."
Sandra said to Ice, who ambiguously smiled, "Ehehe."
On the other hand, Clay and Toxy chuckled.
"I never thought Ice-san would be the most composed one."
"Well, I'm a new to this..."
The two said something.
"Next, Toxy."
"Sure. Well, I already finished my report yesterday, so let's go quickly. It's about 'poison resistance,' but well, it's not a problem. If it wavers at that level, it can be easily taken down."
"Hey, can I ask a question?"
Clay raised his hand, and Toxy responded, "What?"
"Dragons, starting with Wyverns, are so valuable that they are said to have 'no place to discard.' I want to defeat them in a state where their meat can be eaten if possible. Since there are two of them, roughly worth five gold coins."
Well, we can pay Alex's tuition fees with that.
"Ah... okay. I see. I get it now... it might be difficult until we take them down. But paralyzing them, making them unable to move for a few minutes should work. That way, the poison should be properly removed."
"Thank you. That's all from me."
I look around at everyone. It seems like no one else has any questions.
"Then, Sandra."
"'Shock resistance' was significantly higher compared to poison. With iron elements in the scales, it seems to conduct electricity. If I can shine, it will be after I have wounded the Wyvern."
As she speaks, Sandra moves what seems to be a scale she pulled from me with her fingers.
"Yeah, that's right... Even though lightning hit a flying wyvern, it kept flying."
I was so scared. I didn't know such a mechanism existed. It's surprising.
"Having a heavy body with iron scales and still being able to fly... Are they using magic to fly? Truly deserving to be called a dragon."
Leaving Clay lost in thought, I move on to my final presentation.
"It's my turn for the last one. 'Defense power,' no problem. I can handle it."
"If the person (Wade) who shattered it without even using a sword says so, then it's all good, right?"
Everyone nods in agreement with Toxy's words. I nod too.
"I'm the one who's going to charge in!"
"This boar will never be healed for life, huh..."
Toxy sighs. I ignore it and say,
"So, next, let's all think together about how to defeat the Wyvern. Shall we have a fun time? How do you all want to take down that flying lizard?"
I laugh ferociously.
