Volume 2 Chapter 16 Enemy Information I
When Toxy stopped crying, Ice and Clay appeared.
"Oh, Wade-kun...! I'm glad. It seems everything is safe."
"Thanks for worrying, Ice. Clay, how much did you find out?"
"We identified the main two and five subordinates. We couldn't pin down the iron-class members though."
"That's enough. Let's move on to the strategy meeting then."
I gathered the four of us, and as each of us sat down as we pleased, I stood up.
"Alright, let's decide how to corner the enemy according to the flow. We'll determine the enemy's strength and how to deal with it while listening to Clay's input."
"Got it."
When Clay raises his hand, I also raise my hand.
"Now, I'll announce the current plan we're considering, it's not that complicated. So, this guy Frowdus who's kinda tricky, I want him to borrow 'five big gold coins' from them, like from those moneylenders... oh!"
"Could it be Eujary-san...?"
"That's it, thanks Ice. Let Eujary the loan shark handle it. I'll stand behind you all. They'll probably refuse, and a few bodyguards will show up. After that, I'll give the signal, so go in when I do."
"Pretty straightforward, Wade."
"If it's straightforward, it's not necessarily good. Sure, if we charge in when enemies appear, it's a surprise attack at that moment, but it won't have much more effect."
In response to my critical comments, Toxy and Frain answer in sequential. Then, I replied, "I welcome better suggestions." Toxy was the first to respond.
"Why not use my poison? If you take the antidote beforehand, I can make it harmless to allies."
"Huh? You use poison magic?"
"...What. Is that bad?"
Toxy, who clearly became displeased with Frain's tsukkomi, but Frain didn't push further.
"―――Oh, I forgot that Slow Magic is the leader of the party. Forget it."
Frain turned away and then urged me, "Hey, leader, get things organized."
"Ah, I know. ...Right. Is there a way to turn the poison into mist at my timing after everyone taken the antidote?"
"Hmm... If I can evaporate the liquid poison, I can carry it in the air for the enemies to inhale."
"In that case, what about my fire magic? If I store small fireballs in a scroll, Wade can use them even alone."
A scroll. It's a scroll that can store magic. It's one of the things I learned at the training center. By releasing magic of a size that fits in the scroll, you can store magic for one use only and release it again by opening it.
"That sounds good. Then we'll weaken everyone with poison for a surprise attack."
Now, I look at Clay. "It seems to be my turn now," Clay said as he stood up.
"Now everyone. The enemies we've identified are roughly two 'silver rank adventurers to watch out for,' five 'copper rank adventurers we should be able to beat if we handle them properly,' and over ten to twenty 'insignificant iron rank adventurers.'"
As Clay starts explaining beside me, I quietly move to the side.
"Therefore, there are three things we need to consider. First, how can we quickly sweep away the iron rank adventurers. Second, what combinations should we use against the copper rank adventurers. And third, how do we defeat the silver rank adventurers."
"Wouldn't the poison strategy we discussed earlier work fine against the iron rank, Clay?"
"As expected of Wade-kun. I was thinking the same. So next, let's think about how to deal with the copper rank adventurers."
First, let's talk about who the copper rank adventurers are. As Clay speaks, Ice stands up.
"Um, well, you see. I drew sketches of the five copper rank adventurers and the two silver rank adventurers we encountered on our way here..."
"Ice is truly amazing. So talented."
"Uh, Wade-kun, please don't praise me too much... It's embarrassing, you know."
Even as she says that, Ice looks bashful with a "hehe" expression. She's someone worth praising.
Clay looks at the portraits lined up by Ice and starts talking to them.
"I think it's enough to just remember the faces and attributes of the enemies, so I'll explain each portrait individually. So, from left to right, we have metal, darkness, wind, wind, water. Metal is probably iron."
"Oh... then, I'll go with water, I guess."
The first one to raise their hand was Ice.
"That's right. Ice-san uses ice magic, so if you freeze the water magic attacks, you can control them. You'll have a significant advantage. Wade-kun, is that okay?"
"Yeah. Ice, I'll leave it to you."
"Yeah... I'll do my best, Wade-kun...!"
Ice squeezes her hand as a sign of motivation. Actually, Ice is quite strong too, so she won't fall behind.
"If that's the case, I'll handle the darkness."
The next to raise their hand was Frain.
"The darkness uses magic to blind the enemy's vision. Other than that, it's just like a regular person. And that darkness can be dispelled with light or fire magic."
"If that's the case, then I'll leave it to you. I'm not really worried about Frain."
"Huh, keep praise me."
With a smug grin, Frain chuckled. Now, there are two wind magicins left, and also a metal magician.
"I might be able to handle the two wind users on my own."
It was Clay who said it.
"Got it. I'll leave it to Clay."
"Huh? Hey, Wade. Have you been speaking vaguely this whole time?"
At that moment, Frain confronted me.
