Volume 1 Chapter 15 Each Weapon - Wade

Volume 1 Chapter 15 Each Weapon - Wade

When I went to the section with heavy weapons lined up, Clay was standing there.

"Oh, Wade-kun and Ice-san. Are you guys also choosing heavy weapons?"

"I'm choosing the one that Ice chooses."

"Well, I-I can't use something this heavy, so..."

"Haha. Yeah, Ice-san isn't the type to say that. But I didn't think Wade-kun would be into heavy weapons either."

 "I use the magic-wise."

"Oh, I see. Um, sorry, what magic is it?"

 "Gravity magic."

Clay apologized with a sheepish smile when I responded coolly, saying, "Sorry, sorry."

"I've heard rumors so much that I forgot the actual name of the magic. Gravity magic, right. I'll make sure to remember it now so this doesn't happen again."

He may be a little absent-minded, but I find him quite likable. When I asked if Clay was going to buy something too, he shook his head.

"I took a quick look, but the one I'm using now seems to be better. Wade-kun, what kind of weapon are you looking for? I know a lot about heavy weapons, so I think I can help."

"Um, I'll help you look too!"

When Ice suddenly raised her voice, Clay and I looked at her in surprise. Ice realized that her own voice sounded annoying and shrunk down, saying, "Um, uh, sorry..."

 "Hahaha, Wade-kun, you're pretty popular!"

 "No, it's not like that."

I told him not to push Ice too hard because she's sensitive, then decided to look for a weapon on my own. From sledgehammers to two-handed swords, all the weapons required immense physical strength to handle.

Among them, there was one weapon that stood out - a sword as big as me, thick and heavy like a block of iron. It seemed to be completely ignored, covered in layers of dust.

 "Is this one...?"

"Wade-kun, is that what you want...?"

"Isn't that a bit too big? With Wade-kun's build, it's tough, and it can only be used in a big hall like one with a boss in the dungeon."

Ice said, looking worried, while Clay frowned. Is it really too extreme to go this far? I pondered with my arms crossed.

 Then, the female shopkeeper appeared.

"What's up? So Wade, the talk is that the heavier the weapon, the better?"

She asked with a curious tone, approaching. I shrugged, "Magic works that way. Even if it's heavy, it can be made light," I explained, touching the sword. "I see," the shopkeeper nodded.

"This weapon was made by someone strange who, despite being a trainee, had an interest in blacksmithing. As you can see, it's quite large, so it's been sitting here unsold for years. Now, let's get to the point."

The shopkeeper said, looking at me

"Even facing these amateurs who think they know it all, I have my pride. I'll properly advise any trainee who's overdoing it and sell them a weapon suitable for their level. But Wade, I still can't quite figure out what's suitable for you."

"So, show you my strength, is that it?"

"It's not about that. This weapon is just big and heavy, not a masterpiece. So, all you need is brute strength. In other words, pick it up and swing it. If you handle it fine, I'll give you this sword that's just getting in my way for free."

 "Really, r-really!"

"Hahaha! What's with you? With that innocent face of yours behind that serious facade, you can be surprisingly childlike. Okay, I won't swallow my own spit."

Feeling incredibly lucky, I touched the sword. Then I muttered, "Weight Reduce."

In the next second, the sword seemed to be under my magic control. I grabbed the sword with one hand and lifted it up.

"You...! Haha, I did say to give it a shake, but I didn't expect you to lift it with just one hand."

"It's a type of magic. For now, it's not possible to shake it here, so I'm thinking of going outside."

"Oh, I don't need it. I saw you easily lift it with one hand. That's enough for me."

Take it with you as you please. When told that, I feel like doing a little dance."

 "...Wade-kun, you seem happy..."

"Wade-kun, you're more emotive than I thought. I had a cooler image of you."

And teased by the party members, I cleared my throat to calm down.

"Thank you, shopkeeper. Also, I want another weapon that can be useful in a place where I can't swing this sword."

 "A dagger, you mean?"

"Well... it's not bad, but I want something more like..."

Unable to express it well, I could only shake my head. Then, Ice spoke up.

"You see, Wade-kun's magic can make heavy things light or light things heavy... S-so, it's better if it's easy to handle, right?"

"Ah, I see. So, if you're facing opponents in close combat, you don't even need to use that greatsword."

I nodded in agreement with the shopkeeper's analysis. Then, Clay chimed in,

"By the way, remember when you landed a heavy blow bare-handed against the Manticore? I was surprised to see you fight monsters bare-handed."

"Wow, Wade, you're something else. Maybe it's better not to limit yourself to just weapons. Follow me."

The shopkeeper said, leading us to the armor area for some reason. There, the shopkeeper rummaged around and pulled out two items.

 "What are those?"

"Mitten Gauntlets. They're like gloves or gauntlets."

"Try putting it on," she said, as I put on the armor. It was a piece of armor that covered the arms, making them look bigger. There were many sharp points, and it looked like it would hurt if someone were to punch you with it.

"If you can fight with bare hands using magic, then it's also a good idea to have something similar to bare hands. Dive in close, deliver a heavy blow. If that doesn't work on a huge enemy, then it's time for the sword. Give it all you've got and cut them down."

 "I see..."

I could feel a complete battle style forming in my mind, and I couldn't help but admire it. For smaller enemies, dive in and rush with fists. For larger ones, use the super-sized sword. It's easy to understand.

 "Let's buy these!"

"Thank you. What about you two?"

"Uh, I-I'll take these three items..."

 "I'm good this time."

"Got it. So it's just the two of you. And what about the poison goblin knife - how do you split the cost?"

"Oh, just deduct half of that from each purchase price."

When I answered, Ice strongly protested, "Eh, no, that's not...!"

"Huh? But didn't we defeat that Goblin together?"

"N-no! Wade-kun defeated it alone. So, I-I'll be fine!"

"Well, if you say that, I was attacked by the third one. It was Ice who prevented that. So, this victory is ours together, right?"

 "But, but...!"

Ice seemed adamant and wouldn't back down for some reason. Clay sighed and shook his head,

"Since we've decided what to buy, let's end this happy argument quickly."

 "H-happy...!?"

Ice reacted nervously, jumping at every word. While I couldn't help but think 'come on,' I also felt like Ice's surprise stole the show.

"Ah, sorry about that. Shopkeeper, we'll go with what we discussed earlier."

"Alright! It seems like it's still difficult to keep the young lady in line, huh?"

 "To, to keep in...!"

Panicking cutely, Ice was quite the subject of teasing. I chuckled, joining in on the mischief.

"Well, if you're not satisfied, how about we go on a date next time? You can treat me then."

 "Wha...!?!"

"Just kidding. ...Hey! Are you okay!? Are you okay, Ice!"

Ice collapsed to the ground, "Kyu~..." unable to move. Clay and I exchanged glances, shrugging our shoulders, "I guess that teasing was a bit too intense."
