Volume 9 Chapter 56 Thunder Vs Flame, Part Two
Jillzack Luiid is a demon who appeared in Tokyo in pursuit of Lisha in the past.
Given the identification name of 'Flame,' he clashed with the Anti-Demon Officials, causing chaos.
He demonstrated an overwhelming difference in power to Tsukiko, leaving a deep-seated fear of demons.
Despite their history, he unexpectedly stood to protect Tsukiko.
"So, who are you?"
Leon squinted his eyes and raised his chin.
"You seem to be a demon. If I recall correctly, you're Jillzack Luiid."
"Do you know my name?"
"I believe you were defeated by the hero and captured by the Anti-Demon Officials... Well, it might not be so difficult for you to escape now."
"Ah, it seems someone somewhere has caused quite a commotion."
The 'Tokyo Crisis' caused by Sakaki Tsuzuri inflicted significant damage on the Anti-Demon Special Forces.
Taking advantage of that situation, Luiid managed to escape from prison.
"But it's strange. According to the reports, you were supposed to have injured your magic circuit in the battle with the hero. Unable to use magic properly, why did you show up?"
That's right.
Tsukiko also remembers.
It later became known from Yuusuke's account that Luiid used the Demon King's arm as a catalyst to exceed his limits and perform magic.
And it was that magic that got him slashed by Yuusuke.
As a result, his magic circuit for channeling magic power was completely worn out, rendering him unable to use magic properly.
That's why he could continue to be imprisoned by the Anti-Demon Official.
If he could use his full power, he would be unstoppable by the Anti-Demon Official.
"Why, you ask? It's simple. It's too arrogant to interfere in our battle and even try to manipulate us."
"So you've come to make a statement?"
"I need assurance. There are things I must ask your boss who is ahead of you."
"I see. In that case, it's simple. If you defeat me, your wish will come true."
That's impossible, though.
Luiid's words were drowned out by the heat ray emitted from Pii-chan's mouth.
It's impossible for a demon, who can't even use magic properly, to defend against this attack. They will just evaporate and be done with.
"What an impatient guy."
Luiid extended his right hand towards the heat ray. His magic wasn't activated. There was no compression of magic power.
It was a casual movement, almost as if offering a handshake.
The area around the heat ray is filled with invisible flames. Just getting close to it makes your skin burn and melt, let alone a direct hit.
But that didn't happen.
The heat ray that hit Luiid's hand stopped as if creating ripples.
Tsukiko's hair swayed from the impact of the flames, feeling the heat intensely on her skin.
As someone who was fighting, Tsukiko understood. Normally, one would need magic power to stop that.
Yes, normally. However, Luiid stopped it not with magic power, but with his skills.
He completely grasped the flow of the flowing magic power and brought Leon's flames under his control. It was a feat only possible for magician handling flames, but it could only be done against a significantly weaker magician.
It was like a master teaching a disciple, but the opponent was a grimoire.
Turning the spread flames into a sphere with his fingertips, Luiid said,
"Is this all you've got?"
"...You're unexpectedly doing well. Go for it, Pii-chan!"
In response to Leon's words, Pii-chan flew.
"'Fiery Wing Dance'"
As Pii-chan spread its wings that matched its round body, they transformed into giant wings engulfed in flames.
Then, missiles of fire were launched.
It was like a carpet bombing that shook the earth.
"What!?"
Overwhelming in quantity, crushing techniques one after another.
Tsukiko wielded the Golden Thunder Spear. Unable to bring down everything, she focused on shooting down attacks that would hit her directly in a single shot.
She thought so, but upon seeing the trajectory of the missiles, she realized it was impossible.
Adjusting the timing, everything was moving to ensure a direct hit on Tsukiko and Luiid. Even if she managed to take down some missiles with a concentrated attack, she couldn't prevent the next ones.
Unlike "Falling Sun," it's clear that it has "following" effect. She doesn't know if she can avoid it, but she has to move.
On the other hand, Luiid showed no sign of movement, unlike Tsukiko, who concentrated magic power in her legs.
"--Snap, crackle, pop. The fireplace glows bright. A warm, cozy fire on a chilly night. Swaying gently, oh, what a sight."
Is he quietly humming a nursery rhyme? It's not the ominous chant one heard in past battles.
The flames gathered at Luiid's fingertips flickered.
It swayed unstably as if something was rampaging inside.
And he directed his fingertips towards the "Fiery Wing Dance."
"'Aspita (Red Servant)'"
The released fireball instantly expanded and changed shape.
A monster with a goat's head, dragon scales, and four arms thicker than a large tree appeared. These are the legendary creature from the Asteris myth - "Silguera."
The greatswords held by each of its four arms knocked down all the missiles. Explosions triggered more explosions, and Silguera took it all without trying to defend.
"What!?"
Still, Silguera didn't stop. Piercing through the sea of flames, it roared and swung its sword towards Pii-chan, who was flapping its wings.
"Burn, phoenix!"
Instead of blood, flames; instead of screams, shockwaves; the wilderness echoed with the sound of battle.
