Chapter 15 Production Of Elixirs And The Surprising Result
I obtained a large amount of medicinal herbs in the forest near the capital city.
As we headed towards the Adventurer's Guild in the capital city, the comet witch, Mercury-san, said,
"What are we going to do with such a large amount of medicinal herbs... It's hundreds of times more than the requested amount."
"Did I pick too much?"
"Yes. It's rare for the Guild to need such a massive amount of medicinal herbs. They won't buy them."
"I see... So, excess is never good. I'll be more careful next time about picking too much."
When we returned to the Guild's hall, we suddenly noticed something strange.
"The Guild seems noisy."
"I wonder if something happened?"
As we approached the reception, a flashy woman with red hair was having a serious conversation with Niina-san.
"What's wrong, Niina-chan?"
"Ah, Mercury-san! Actually, Jasmine-sama has an urgent request..."
The woman with the red hair seems to be called Jasmine-san.
From the way receptionist Niina addresses her, she's probably not a member of this guild.
"What do you mean by an urgent request?"
"Well... she needs a large amount of medicinal herbs, like, tons of them..."
"Huh? Medicinal herbs...?"
Jasmine-san is a tall woman with a mature charm.
But judging by her tense expression, it seems like something serious must have happened.
"Niina-kun, can't you somehow make it work? We need 100 kilos of herbs... no, we'd appreciate even more than that."

"Um, is this amount of medicinal herbs enough?"
"W-What... could it be... Is there more?"
"Well, yes."
I show them the entire mountain of medicinal herbs that I brought.
"WHAAAAAAAT!? YOU'VE TAKEN TOO MUCH! WHAT IS THISSSS!?"
"Niina-chan, I understand how you feel... I was surprised earlier too..."
Jasmine-san mutters, "Unbelievable."
"Oh, is it not enough? If so, I can go get more."
"No, no! It's enough! Thank you... I'll have my merchant guild buy it. At double the normal rate... no, triple!"
Oh, the medicinal herbs won't rot.
And at triple the price, too. Great.
"Thank you, Leaf-san! It really helped!"
Niina-san says with a smile.
It made me happy that someone who had been kind to me was grateful.
"Leaf...?"
Jasmine-san looked at me, her eyes wide as if she were surprised about something.
"Could it be... you're Leaf Chemist-kun, from Dead End Village?"
"Uh, yes. Um, how did you know...?"
Then Jasmine-san, as if she had found God at the edge of hell, brightened up.
Clap! She grabbed my hand and said,
"Leaf Boy! Could you please lend me your strength!"

I arrived at Mercury-san's shop, the Comet Workshop.
I placed a pile of herbs on the workbench.
"Um, just confirming the request, you need [Detox Potion] and [Healing Potion], right? In large quantities?"
"Yeah. A friend's unit was attacked by monsters, and there are a lot of injured. And the tricky part is, the enemy is poisonous. It's called a [Hydra]."
Mercury-san widened her eyes and exclaimed, "H-Hydra!?"
I wonder if it's some famous monster.
"The poison of the Hydra is very strong, and healers alone can't keep up with treatment and detoxification. So, our merchant guild was asked to arrange potions."

I used my Prescription skill and created potions as ordered... in other words, potions that could heal and detoxify.
"H-Hydra... isn't that dangerous...? What about evacuating the town?"

"Miss Mercury, what is this thing you're talking about?"
Mercury-san says the name of what I made.
"It's an Elixir!"
"What!? An Elixir!?"
Now Jasmine-san is surprised too.
What's so surprising?
"That's impossible! You can't make an Elixir!"
"Well, I did."
"But don't you need a drop from Yggdrasil, a super, super rare item, to make it!?"
"Um, but do you really need it? Huh?"
Mercury-san shakes her head vigorously.
Huh?
"For an Elixir, you need the Tear of Yggdrasil! Isn't that common sense?"
"Well, yeah, you can use that, but you can't do it unless the Yggdrasil Tree is nearby. With my method, though, I can mass-produce Elixirs without the Tear of Yggdrasil, just using herbs..."
Hmm, both of them seem stunned now...
"Did I say something weird?"
Then Mercury-san twitches her temple again.

"Something weird? You've only been saying weird things! Who in the world can make Elixirs with herbs?"
"Um, right here?"
"I'm not talking about that! ARGHHHHHHHHH!"
Mercury-san is clutching her head in distress.
"What's wrong? Do you have a headache? Want some Elixir?"
"It's like you're offering me a rare item as casually as offering me headache medicine! ARGHHHHHHHHH!"
While Mercury-san is shouting, Jasmine-san kneels in front of me.
"Leaf Chemist-kun... No, Leaf-sama."
"N-No need to be so formal... Just Leaf is fine."
What's gotten into her all of a sudden?
She's being so formal...
"You're amazing. You're like a godsend. Thank you... With this, many people will be saved. Thank you!"
Jasmine-san keeps bowing repeatedly.
Well, I guess that's good.
But there's one thing I need to correct.
"No, Master did tell me to help people in need. But... can I ask you something?"
"What! I'll do anything for you!"
"Oh, no... It's not that I want you to do something, but there is a mistake."
Huh? Jasmine-san tilted her head in confusion.
Mercury-san looked like she had figured something out.
"I... am not a savior. Just a... pharmacist from the outskirts."
Ignoring the astonished Jasmine-san, Mercury-san interjected.
"No, I mean it! A regular pharmacist like you wouldn't know the secret recipe to mass produce Elixirssss!"
